Welcome from Admin!
Welcome to all of you!

If you have managed to get this far you have done very well!

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to The Missing Madeleine Forum. I would like The Missing Madeleine forum to be a friendly and welcoming place to all who manage to get here.

In order for this to happen I need to set out a few rules as a starting point.

1. Please do not spam the boards. Spam includes linking to other websites for personal gain, writing posts that are unwarranted or contain items that are unrelated to the original post. If you have something to say that is not related to the topic in hand please start another thread.

2. Racism or anything related will not be tolerated on this forum. This includes any jokes related to a particular race.

3. No links to other forums are to be posted without consent from Admin.

4. Targeting other members in an aggressive or malicious manner will not be tolerated. If any member is found to be breaching any of these rules, their membership will be revoked and their ip address will be logged. If any member thinks any of the above is happening please PM Admin.

5.  Members who come in and continuously lurk without posting any comments will be monitored closely.  If they continue to lurk then they will be banned unless another member has recommended them and know who they are.  I apologise for having to take this action but due to a few nasty guests who find it necessary to come into the forum to take comments and private information and post them on other forums for ridicule I am sure you will understand that I am taking this action for the good of all the trusted members already here.

Thanks and please note - Admin reserve the right to update or change these rules as required.

Poor, single mom faces 8 years for leaving kids in car during job interview

An Arizona attorney announced Wednesday that he will not drop felony child abuse charges against an unemployed single mother who left her children in a car during a job interview after she couldn’t find childcare.

People in Arizona and across the country have urged Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery to consider the circumstances — including poverty, housing insecurity and a state-wide lack of access to affordable childcare — that may have led Shanesha Taylor to make such a decision, but he remains unmoved.

“First, they weren’t signatures [on the online petition in support of Taylor]; they were just a list of names,” Montgomery told the Arizona Republic. “So I don’t know whether any of the individuals in their pajamas who logged on to the site and put their name on there really had a clue of all the circumstances involved in this particular case.

“The ‘quote-unquote’ letter addressed to me didn’t mention any of the circumstances that presented those children with jeopardy.”

Taylor’s children were examined at a hospital the day of her arrest, but were uninjured. Taylor’s supporters have acknowledged the very real danger of leaving young children unattended in a hot car and the importance of ensuring they are safe in the care of their mother and family, but have urged state officials to see the case as the product of cuts to social programs that aid families struggling with joblessness and homelessness — not as an individual failing. But like the Maricopa County attorney, the Arizona Legislature has not taken up the call to action.

As Laurie Roberts at the Arizona Republic notes, both the Arizona state House and Senate have rejected proposals to restore child-care subsidies for the working poor. “Roughly 6,000 children are on a waiting list for the subsidies, which were frozen by the Legislature when recession hit,” according to Roberts. Senate President Andy Biggs said recently that the lack of access to affordable childcare for parents struggling to make ends meet is not the responsibility of the government, which, he said, is not obliged to be “compassionate or merciful.”

Taylor has pleaded not guilty to the charges; she faces a maximum penalty of 8 years in prison.

Seeing an article like this is what really bothers me about the McCanns, their ability to escape justice, and their celebrity status. Here we have a woman, who due to being homeless, felt she had no choice but to leave her children in a car while she attended a job interview. While on the other hand, we have the McCanns who had the means to pay for proper care but made the conscious decision not to provide that care. Both of Taylor's children are still alive and safe, yet one of the McCanns children has gone missing and is presumed dead. Taylor is facing 8 years in prision, whilst the McCanns are pseudo-celebrities, ambassadors for missing children, and allowed to keep their medical licenses and continue to practice medicine.
