Good, she deserves it. I hope she rots in prison for allowing that piece of scum to beat her son the way he did

Mom Of Beaten Boy, 4, Ordered To Stand Trial

July 20, 2010

Corrine Baker Facing Second-Degree Murder Charge

A judge ruled a Genesee County woman will go to trial on charges of second-degree murder and child abuse in the beating death case of her son.

Corrine Baker, 25, is accused of willfully disregarding the condition of her son, Dominick Calhoun, who died April 12.

Authorities said the 4-year-old boy was repeatedly beaten by Baker's boyfriend, Brandon Hayes, after he wet his pants at their apartment in Argentine Township in April.

Baker reportedly told police she was afraid to report the abuse, thinking she would be blamed or charged with violating her probation.

During the Monday hearing, the doctor who performed Dominick’s autopsy testified -- as did Julie Baker, Corrine Baker's mother.

Witness after witness took the stand, painting a picture of torture and abuse the four-year-old endured.

One of those witnesses, Brandon Hayes’ uncle Rodney Keen, said he was visiting the couple’s apartment to buy marijuana when he saw Dominick’s hand.

Keen said he confronted Corrine when Hayes wasn’t around and told her to get the boy help.

As testimony concluded, the judge could not hold back his emotion, saying it was the worst case of any kind he’d ever seen.

“Every mother has a duty to love, protect and care for -- if you can’t depend on your mother, I don’t know who you can count on,” said Genesee County Judge John Conover.

There was no clear date given as to when Baker’s trial will begin.

Hayes has been charged with torture and premeditated murder in boy's death.
