MIJAS - Mystery surrounds the identity of a man’s body pulled up in the nets of a fishing trawler off Mijas. The decomposed tied and gagged body – with hands and feet missing – was wrapped in plastic and had a head injury and a broken nose. An anchor around the neck became entangled in the fishing nets off the Faro de Calaburras area.

MIJAS - Mystery surrounds the identity of a man’s body pulled up in the nets of a fishing trawler off Mijas. The decomposed tied and gagged body – with hands and feet missing – was wrapped in plastic and had a head injury and a broken nose. An anchor around the neck became entangled in the fishing nets off the Faro de Calaburras area.

The body was pulled from the water after the authorities had been alerted and the boat had returned to Benalmadena Port. An autopsy has confirmed that the body had been in the water for at least ten days, but failed to determine the exact cause of death other than suffocation. It is not known if this occurred before entry into the water, or it was due to drowning.

Police are checking records and testing DNA samples as the body had no identifying features. All that has been revealed is that the man was middle aged, white, and with a strong build.

Just rambling, but a case like this one, makes us remind how many people live a solitaire life. If an alert had been given about this person, probably by now, the authorities could have a clue about who this body could be.

Sign of the modern times? Probably! Solitude is one of the biggest problem nowadays.
