Quote of the Day - Looking back on the Madeleine case

“The disappearance of Madeleine McCann, the English three-year-old child that was on holidays in Lagos, “is a very badly told story”, a source at the Polícia Judiciária in Portimão told DN. The statement reflects the authorities’ doubts concerning the “confusing” depositions that were made by witnesses throughout the day, yesterday.”

"Gerry told me when they went back the shutters to the room were broken, they were jemmied up and she was gone," said Mr Healy. "She'd been taken from the chalet. The door was open."

"If that situation had been of an abduction, it would have been terrible for the child. Because if that child were to be sold, or something else... She was as good as... it was her death sentence. That situation, that day, advertising that photo, was simply the death sentence of that child."

That statement has got to be one of the most heart breaking I have read in relation to this case.
So even if Madeleine had been abducted, she was dead as a result of those actions.
Poor wee thing never had a chance did she? Quote of the Day - Looking back on the Madeleine case 36898

Although initially reluctant, the McCanns finally informed the media of Madeleine’s unique right eye—a risky revelation. Whoever had taken the child now held a universally recognizable little girl.

Gerry understood that. But, he says, the iris “is Madeleine’s only true distinctive feature. Certainly we thought it was possible that this could potentially hurt her or”—he grimaces—“her abductor might do something to her eye.… But in terms of marketing, it was a good ploy.”

“The local policeman was doing very little. The area was not cordoned off for hours and hours. Kate and Gerry [were] frustrated at the lack of activity. [The police] tried to downplay the enormity of it and said Madeleine had perhaps wandered off. That is the most ridiculous suggestion.”

Why was it a ridiculous suggestion?
I'm sure it would be the first thought in your head if your child was missing. That's she'd wandered away.
Why would you automatically think that she'd been snatched?
That's always puzzled me, I'm sure you would be in shock etc. but its a completely alien way of thinking, IMO, so assume the most unlikliest scenario first!!!!!!!

Quote of the Day - Looking back on the Madeleine case

“Jenni: And how will you deal with the guilt that will probably stay with you forever of having left Madeleine alone?

Kate: Well, I have actually come to terms a little bit with... with that, Jenni, I mean, you know... I know the, errm, I know the situation that we were in that night and uh, I've said all along, I didn't feel I was taking a risk. Errm, yeah, I... I do feel desperately sorry I wasn't with Madeleine at that minute when she was taken.”

That always makes me laugh....why couldnt she just answer the bloody question!!!

"I do feel desperately sorry I wasn't with Madeleine at that minute when she was taken.”

And what does that mean exactly???

If she had been there then an abductor wouldnt have gone in and had he found Kate in the room he would have run off without a child!

Or,

i am feeling very guilty for letting my kids alone, was very irresponsible of us, was a very bad idea and the only thing i want now is to find my lovely daugther Maddie!

because, another thing that was always strange for me, was the dificult to say that they love Maddie!

It is very strange how she answered...i was thinking about this lastnite.I think if anyone else was in her situation they would break down and say how they wish they had never gone on holiday,or wish they had listened to madeleine and not left her that night. It's all so strange..unreal.

Staying in the Algarve also makes it easier to stay in touch with the Portuguese polce, this is particularly important with the investigation being so active. We have regular meetings and calls to keep abreast of developments."

the day after they were made arguidos, was not important anymore to stay in touch with Pt police!

but of course, just another coincidence, that was the last plane to Uk in the next months!

"How nice this hypocrit man sounds on his blog. What a difference between his words on it and what he was spreading around through his family and friends.Yeah, he had to manipulate the British media and he used his family. Now he is asking for attention again, for some reason. What about opening the process, having Amaral as witness? In September 2007 they felt themselves under pressure in Portugal and they went back to England. They must feel under pressure in the UK right now, that's why he went back to Portugal, making smoke around the case. But this does not change the fact they were at least neglect.
This fact will remain as a sad truth in Maddie's and in their lives.
And in the process, of course.A thouwsand trips to Portugal will not change anything.
They will always be the irresponsible ones

Quote of the Day - Looking back on the Madeleine case

"When I was praying I started thinking of all the things that were happening. There were lots and lots of ideas in my head and how we could make things better and I was really feeling very down and not sure which way to proceed. I had this mental image of being in a tunnel and instead of the light at the end of the tunnel being extremely narrow and a distant spot, the light opened up and the tunnel got wider and wider and went in many different directions. I talked to you [Kate] about it and said, ‘I am not prepared to pursue one path. We are going to do everything in our power to influence things.'

“I’m analyzing the process to see if it is worthwhile to give some impulse to the process, that is, to request the opening of the instruction or to advance to a hierarchical superior at the Public Ministry”, Rogério Alves said in Portimão yesterday. The deadline for the instruction in this case ends on September 20.
