Relatives of a Dublin man missing in Turkey for almost a week have today pleaded with the public to help end their nightmare.

Mark O’Neill (35) walked out of his room at the Manuela Hotel complex in Bodrum, south-west Turkey, last Friday and hasn’t been seen since.

The barman at the Lord Mayor's pub in Swords – who is described as tanned, 6ft 4in, with short dark hair – had suffered what was believed to be some kind of fit at the start of last week, and had stayed in his room for most of the holiday.

Mark, who was holidaying with his brother Brian (37) and Brian’s wife Denise (32), was due to fly home with the couple on Saturday.

His father Dermot (63) and older brother Paul (38) flew to Turkey at the weekend after hearing of the situation, while his sisters Sharon and Elaine, sister-in-law Mary and mother Eileen have stayed in Dublin in case Mark attempts to call.

But despite searches by his family, police and hotel staff, there have been no definite sightings of Mark in the five days since he vanished.

There have been nightly 30-man plus searches and Turkish TV appeals but no clues have emerged. “We're just so worried because there's been no sign of him at all, he'd had a turn earlier in the week and wasn't well – he was just so confused,” Paul told the Herald.

“He didn't see a doctor or anything because we all thought he was getting better, but he was still in a confused state for most of the week. He was in bed for most of the holiday and was coming out with different things, and then he just left the room on Friday.

“We're hoping anyone from Ireland or even from the UK who's been over here in the last few days might know something.

“Mark doesn't have his passport but he had his wallet with him when he left, he had his card with him as well, but it hasn't been used and there's no records. There's no records in any hospital either.”
