Well search held up
The search of a 100-foot disused well in Gran Canaria for the remains of missing teenager Sara Morales has been held up by the amount of water still in the well, according to police.
Gran Canaria - 24.03.2010 - Divers have spent two days trying to reach remains detected by an underwater camera last Friday and it has now been decided to drain the well completely before continuing. The island's authorities have urged the media to exercise caution in its coverage of the search and insist that there is 'no evidence yet' that the remains are those of the girl, who disappeared in July 2006.

Thank you Antoinette. So sad that someone has been killed and their body just thrown away like that. Whoever that is in the well, it's someone's family member. Please keep us in touch if you find any updates.

Human bones discovered in abandoned well
Wednesday, 24 March 2010 13:48
After resuming their search for young Sara Morales who disappeared over a year ago, police have discovered what could be human bones in el Valle de Jinámar, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
After several days of digging and searching with infra-red cameras inside a well at an abandoned farm, the discovery was made last Friday. Throughout this new search for Sara, police have been specifically targetting abandoned land and wells in the area.
The operation to salvage the bones is continuing today with specialist equipment brought in to drain the water, which is extracted 25 litres per second but is being hampered by water constantly flowing back into the well. Also the rubbish that has accumulated at the bottom of the well is making excavation work difficult.
An initial forensic report on the findings is that the bones could be humnan but not those of an adult.

Sara Morales was 14 years old when she went missing
National Police specialists who have been working since Monday at a well in Valle de Jinámar, on Gran Canaría, will start to remove the bones found at the site today, Wednesday.
The bones were found wrapped in sacking at a depth of some 20 metres and are thought may be Sara Morales, the youngster who disappeared on the island in June 2006.
Forensic scientists are waiting to analyse the bones to determine firstly if they are human, and if that is the case further investigation will determine if they correspond to Sara or not.

The 14 year old has been missing since 2006
Police searching for Sara Morales, the girl who was 14 when she disappeared in 2006 have announced they consider the search of a well at Jinámara on Gran Canaria to be complete, as the only bones found are smaller than hoped and there is the absence of a human skeleton.
The well remains cordoned off by the police who say it could collapse at any time.
