Handprints on the wall, a Scooby Doo outfit and Winnie the Pooh bear in her crib: Heart-breaking images inside Baby Lisa's bedroom

Last updated at 8:40 PM on 24th October 2011

You can see the little girl's hand and foot prints from the day she was born, the Scooby Doo outfit she loved to wear and a Winnie the Pooh bear in the crib where she was apparently abducted.

The world has had its first look inside the family home of Lisa Irwin, as the desperate search for the 11-month-old girl whose parents say was abducted in Kansas City, Missouri, enters its third week.

A tour of Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin's house reveals the crib that Baby Lisa was sleeping in on the night she was allegedly taken earlier this month and graphite from fingerprinting by police.

It also shows the counter in the kitchen - where the couple claim three mobile phones were taken - and two rifles leaning against the wall on the floor of their bedroom, where court documents also lay.

NBC’s Peter Alexander shows viewers around Baby Lisa’s room, where her clothes are still hanging up in a wardrobe, and her parents’ room - where FBI dogs allegedly smelt the scent of a dead body.

Her parents returned to her home on Sunday night for a candlelight vigil and they were both in tears as Lisa's grandfather prayed for the child’s safe return.

Meanwhile, video footage has emerged that shows a man leaving a wooded area near to where she vanished on the night she was reported missing.

The discovery appears to add weight to witness reports of a suspicious man holding a baby in the area in the early hours of October 4.

Police are also investigating a dumpster fire which happened in the same place at a similar time.
Missing: It has been three weeks since 11-month-old Lisa Irwin was last seen

The fire could explain why burnt clothes were shown to Baby Lisa's parents during questioning and also why authorities searched a landfill site as part of the investigation.

Police are investigating a potential scenario involving an unidentified man which supports the parents’ claim that their daughter was abducted.

A woman and her husband said they saw a man in a t-shirt carrying a baby at 12.15am, three houses away from Baby Lisa's home, just hours after the 11-month-old was last seen.

Another witness reported a man matching the description with a baby at 4.10am, three miles away.

The video footage, obtained by Good Morning America, shows the figure in white coming from a petrol station along the route between the sightings - and it occurred at 2.30am.

Ms Bradley and Mr Irwin's lawyer, Joe Tacopina, has defended his clients - saying that police claims that a cadaver dog had smelt the scent of a deceased body in their bedroom proved nothing.

'There is absolutely not a stitch of evidence in this case that there was an accidental death caused by Deborah,' he told Fox News.

He disputed that police dogs had sensed the smell of a deceased body, saying it was 'decomposing remains', which could include faecal matter.

Mr Tacopina stated that claims made against Ms Bradley had caused her 'great pain' and said there was a 'witch-hunt' against her.

He denied that she has a drinking addiction. Ms Bradley claims that her daughter was abducted after she put her to bed at 10:30pm on October 3.

Mike Thompson told ABC News he was on his way home from work around 4am on the night Baby Lisa vanished when he saw a man in a t-shirt carrying a baby about three miles from the Irwin home.

'(At) 4am, 45 degrees, baby don't have a coat or nothing and this guy is walking down the street and I thought it was kind of weird,' Mr Thompson told ABC News.

Mr Thompson described the man as around 5'7", from 140 to 150lbs and in his late 30s or early 40s. A few hours earlier, a couple living three houses away from the Irwin family reported a similar sight.

'It was shocking because I couldn't imagine anyone outside walking with their baby in the cold like that with no clothes on,' a woman told ABC News.

But former FBI agent Brad Garrett told Good Morning America the development meant little as there was 'no connection' as yet to Baby Lisa.

He questioned if it was logical to think a kidnapper would take Baby Lisa, then walk around the area for the next few hours. 'Until these details are connected you don't really have anything,' he said.

The man who reported the dumpster fire told ABC News that flames were shooting several feet in the air and he believed an accelerator had been used.

But Mr Garrett again threw doubt on the development, telling Good Morning America that without any DNA evidence to link the fire to Baby Lisa, the incident was of little value.

Meanwhile, another lawyer for Baby Lisa's parents has spoken out to question the thoroughness of the police search in the family home.
TIMELINE: THE SEARCH FOR MISSING BABY LISA

October 3: Mother spotted on surveillance footage buying wine at grocery store with unidentified man. Claims she put Lisa to bed at 10:30pm.
October 4: Father arrives home at 4am to find Lisa missing from her cot
October 5: Couple plead for daughter’s safe return
October 6: Police claim parents are no longer cooperating
October 7: Landfill close to home searched for second time and mother claims she has been told she has failed a lie detector test
October 9: Police go back to home to re-enact possible abduction scenario
October 10: Drainage ditch searched near the couple’s home
October 11: Lisa’s 11-month birthday and local media are subpoenaed to hand over all interview footage of parents and friends to police
October 12: New York detective Bill Stanton says he has been hired by a private benefactor to work with parents
October 14: Anonymous donor offers $100,000 reward for the return of Lisa
October 17: Police dog smells scent of dead body in house
October 18: Mother admits she was drinking on night of disappearance
October 19: Officers carry out 17-hour search of house
October 21: Witnesses appear on TV claiming that they saw a man with a naked baby on the night Lisa disappeared

Cyndy Short said that despite hours of intensive combing there was not much disturbance, which she told Good Morning America she found 'frankly surprising'.

Her words come she was forced to hit back at reports of police cadaver dog smelling the scent of a dead body on a bedroom floor in the house.

Miss Short said the cadaver dog development could be misleading detectives because the scent could be decades old.

She told Good Morning America: 'My understanding is that there are cold cases where dogs have hit on scents of decomposition that have been in the home for as long as 28 years.

'This is an old home - 63 years old. There could be a lot of other explanations for that.'

Mr Garrett said the dogs have a great accuracy record, adding: 'In studies done of cadaver dogs where the dog has direct access to the scent and it's reasonably fresh - it's above 90 per cent.'

On Friday it emerged that a cadaver dog got a 'positive hit' during a search at the home in Kansas City, Missouri, where the 11-month-old vanished three weeks ago.

Officers said that they removed items including a multi-coloured comforter, purple shorts, a Disney shirt, a glow warm toy, a 'Cars'-themed blanket, rolls of tape and a tape dispenser.

Ms Bradley had previously told police that her daughter was wearing purple shorts and a purple T-shirt when she put her to bed.

In the search warrant, officers indicated that Ms Bradley and Mr Irwin had restricted police access to their home.

'The only areas extensively processed for DNA and fingerprints during the consent were the baby's bedroom and possible points of entry,' court documents reported.

'The extent of the search had been limited in nature with consent' of the parents, police wrote.

A warrant issued to police to carry out a further search the home revealed that a dog had sensed the smell of death in the room last Monday.

The scent was detected 'in an area of the floor of (Deborah) Bradley’s bedroom near the bed,' the affidavit said.

The positive hit was used as evidence to get the search warrant for a 17-hour search on Wednesday.

Police said that they wanted to look for DNA, fingerprints, cell phones and evidence of human decomposition.

The police application for a search warrant said that people involved in the case had 'revealed conflicting information for a clear direction' for the search for the missing child.

'Bradley made the statement she did not initially look for her baby behind the house because she “was afraid of what she might find”,' the document revealed.

The police also cited a 'garden area with portions of dirt having an appearance of being recently disturbed or overturned’.

Investigators spent all day last Wednesday and late into the night examining the inside of the house, a large detached garage, the lawn and the house exterior, including the eaves along the roof line.

Officers and agents could be seen removing large brown paper bags of items, rolls of carpeting and dark panels that appeared to be from X-ray equipment.

Police had a warrant to search the house without the parents present. Ms Bradley and Mr Irwin are staying with relatives nearby.

They were pursuing more than 60 out-of-state leads in their investigation into the disappearance. A police spokesman said police have cleared nearly 700 tips and leads in the case.

Radar-on-line is reporting the parents of Lisa Irwin have FINALLY given permission to the police to interview her 6 and 8 year old brothers (actually one half brother and I guess you would say one 'step' brother). The interviews will take place on Friday. These interviews will be long after she went missing. Hmmmmmm. From some of the pictures I've seen, it looks like the mother has had a 'make-over'.

wjk @ 3:44 PM - You are absolutely correct and that would make both boys half-brothers to Lisa. I'm from a traditional family myself and I get confused by these 'blended' families. Thank you for the correction.

Just to make things more confusing, the two boys will be step-brothers to each other as they have neither biological parent in common! It's what I call a "yours, mine and ours" household.

Nothing wrong with that in this day and age. It may not work out for one couple but they might be happier in another relationship. Once the kids are happy thats all that matters

Among the many disturbing aspects of this case is the fact that the mother has said she has never talked to the six and eight year old boys about the baby being missing. In the normal course of events children of these ages would be asking questions as to why they haven't seen the baby for the past three weeks. TV commentators are saying tonight that the boys are scheduled to be interviewed by police on Friday, but they are adding that this could change. ( In my opinion, three weeks is a long time for the parents to refresh six and eight year old memories of the night Lisa went "missing".)

Another thing that is unusual about this case is that there has been no public search for the child. In similar cases of a missing child, relatives, friends, neighbours and the community at large join together to form a search party. While law enforcement have searched, there has been no participation by the public at large.

The above information was reported on HLN (sister network of CNN) Thursday evening at 6:00 EDST.

This case is turning out to be very strange indeed. I was wondering why the older boys had not apparently been interviewed as to when they last saw their sister. Their memories of the event will naturally be less reliable now. It's interesting about the lack of searches by family and friends (now we definitely have heard that from somewhere else!) but I'm thinking that, as we're talking about a baby almost 11 months old, there's no way that she could just have wandered somewhere nearby on her own so there would be no point in searching locally. If she was genuinely abducted by an intruder, she could be literally anywhere.

The parents of the brothers who were to be interviewed by law enforcement today, have cancelled the interviews AGAIN. I can understand parents being sensitive about their 6 and 8 year olds being interviewed by police, but they are supposed to be focusing on their 11 month old "missing" baby and any information that might be of assisstance in the investigation. All this comes three weeks AFTER she was reported "missing". If you have nothing to hide, you hide nothing.

So the two boys belong to her HUSBAND...I say HUSBAND as she isn't divorced from him and Lisa belongs to her live in boyfriend who happened to be doing night work for the FIRST time and who's baby is missing presumed dead.

3 kids.......and the one that is missing goes missing when the dad is not their...supposedly and whose mother likes a tipple and a pill or two.

Who was looking after the kids when she went to buy booze.

The neighbour was drinking with her that night.

The eight year old boy is the son of the boyfriend with whom she is living. The six year old boy is the son of the mother (whose husband is serving in the military and is the father of the six year old). The mother and the live-in boyfriend are the parents of the "missing" 11 month old baby, Lisa. The mother is not divorced because supposedly as the wife of the military guy she is entitled to spousal benefits and continues to benefit from same.

Their "local" lawyer has been fired and their New York top-gun lawyer is masterminding strategy from afar. It was he who called off the interviews with the children yesterday.
