The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that Will Parini, 29, of Starksboro, Vermont, pled guilty today to one count of possession of child pornography. The Honorable Christina C. Reiss, Chief United States District Judge for the District of Vermont, ordered Parini detained pending sentencing. The sentencing is scheduled for January 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Rutland federal courthouse.
Court records indicate that Parini traded images of child pornography via e-mail in August and September 2010 with an individual residing in San Antonio, Texas. Court records further indicate that Parini distributed about 200 images of child pornography to this individual and received about 19 such images from him during that two-month period.
At sentencing, Parini faces up to 10 years in prison. He could also be fined up to $250,000. The actual sentence will be determined by the court with reference to the advisory Federal Sentencing Guidelines and other sentencing considerations prescribed by federal law.
The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Assistant United States Attorney Christina Nolan is handling the prosecution. Parini is represented by Peter Langrock, Esq., of Middlebury, Vermont.
