United States Attorney Robert Pitman announced that in San Antonio, 43-year-old Matthew P. Lehr faces between five and 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty today to distributing child pornography.
On July 19, 2011, agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence and seized several computers and related digital media. A subsequent forensics examination of the seized items revealed the presence of more than 100,000 images as well as numerous videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
By pleading guilty, Lehr admitted to using the Internet as well as file-sharing programs to download, receive, and distribute the child pornography.
Lehr remains in federal custody pending sentencing. Sentencing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on January 6, 2012, before United States Chief District Judge Fred Biery.
This investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Wannarka is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
