Pennsylvania - Joel A. Nuzum (22) Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Possessing Child Pornography

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Washington County, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to 36 months in prison and 10 years supervised release on his conviction of a charge of possession of child pornography, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

Senior United States District Judge Gary L. Lancaster imposed the sentence on Joel A. Nuzum, 22.

According to information presented to the court, Nuzum, on Nov. 20, 2009, unlawfully possessed, in computer graphics files, videos depicting the sexual exploitation of children, some of whom had not reached the age of 12 years.

Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Lancaster commented upon the reprehensible nature of the crime of conviction and stated that deterrence was necessary in the case.

Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Joel A. Nuzum.
