Gypsy link to Maddie
December 13, 2011
BRITISH detectives are to return to Spain to investigate a possible gypsy link in the disappearance of Maddie McCann.
A team from Scotland Yard have already spent three days looking into claims that the youngster was smuggled into Spain and taken to Barcelona.
They met with both Spain’s UDYCO organised crime unit and detective Dave Edgar, who has spent years investigating the Spanish claims.
Now they are reported to be returning to investigate the theory that she was snatched by a child kidnap gang run by gypsies.
Portuguese police have already investigated a report by holidaymaker Andre van Wyk that he had seen a girl resembling Madeleine being taken in a cart to a gypsy camp near Portimao, about 16kms from where Maddie disappeared.
Days later a British holidaymaker Jean Godwin saw a girl – ’100 per cent Madeleine’ – being dragged around by ‘gypsy women’ 35kms away.
Her information was followed up by both detective Edgar working for the McCann’s and Portuguese police, but nothing was ever conclusive.
The latest development is part of an on-going ‘investigative review’ into the girl’s disappearance in Portugal in 2007, ordered by Prime Minister David Cameron last year.
Last week, the McCann’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “Kate and Gerry welcome the on-going work by the Metropolitan Police and they are pleased that the investigative review is making progress.”

Holidaymaker Andre van Wyk reports seeing a fair-skinned little blonde girl in the back of a horse-drawn gipsy cart three weeks earlier in Portimao. A woman in the cart quickly covered the sleeping youngster's face with a shawl.
"It's been playing on my mind ever since. The little girl looked so out of place," he says. He is also suspicious about an encounter with a gipsy woman at Faro airport who told him no one would find blonde Madeleine because her hair had been dyed black and cut short.

Utter, utter drivel.
SY must surely be looking with interest at the credibility and value (if any) of all those who have purported to assist with "the search" over the years.
I smell lots of fraud cases in the offing once the main diversion, that of alleged "abduction" becomes firmly discredited.

For one holidaymaker, he sure does seem to meet/see alot of gipsies. So, he saw a fair skinned little blonde girl in the back of a gipsy cart, but the gipsy at the airport was saying her hair would have been dyed black and cut short. Well, the latter makes sense to me, if an abduction ever happened at all. So, was she blonde or black haired? Plus, why would anyone get talking to a gipsy woman at Faro Airport? Plus, why was a gipsy at Faro Airport in the first place? Was she hanging around begging, catching a plane, why was she there and why did he engage her in conversation?

You beat me to it, I was going to ask why a gypsy would be hanging around the airport, if indeed one was. Any gypsies seen hanging around at the airport would be moved off the premises very smartly by the police there. This is utter nonsense. I have flown in and out of Faro more times than I can remember and can honestly say that I have never seen any gypsies there. Apart from anything else. gypsies do not usually start conversations with people, they avoid contact with people like the plague. The only time they instigate conversation is at the gypsy market to try and entice you to buy what they have.

They really are scraping the Barrel trying to convince people that SY is actually chasing up these leads, Clarence is earning his Salary composing this
nonsense which the Press continue to print. Notice how slyly Edgar is mentioned, just to let Joe public know the McCanns are investigating.

Re: Gypsy link to Maddie
My experience of gypsies is that they usually have a load of children of their own. Why would they want or need to kidnap somebody else's? It's not as if they have asked for a ransom or anything. It makes no sense.

None of it makes sense. I bet we get to read about the letter the Guy who died (can"t remember his name ) and sent his Son a letter telling him what
happened to Madeleine, wasn"t it Gypsies who took her?

Re: Gypsy link to Maddie
They'd never find her because her hair was cut and dyed black !! For crying out loud, hair grows and I'm sure people would notice a child with black hair and fair roots showing through. How on God's earth can anyone believe this utter garbage?

Re: Gypsy link to Maddie
There are surely much easier ways for the raggle-taggle gypsies to abduct a child than slipping into an apartment, with a 3 minute window of opportunity, navigating their way between cots in the dark, and finding their way out.

I am unable to "do" the link but Anorak coverage of Blame the Gypsies is worth a read.

Here's a link to The Sun's story about Raymond Hewlett and the letter to his son. If there was a poll of which of Antonella Lazzeri's scribblings was the most ridiculous, this one would stand a good chance of being number 1.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3119744/paedophile-knew-who-took-Maddie.html
I think that the gypsies ought to have sued for libel! I know of a good firm of solicitors - Carter-Ruck - who would have taken on their case!!

Them Pikies have got a lot to answer for.Not only abducting our children to do God knows what but 'dragging' them around like who knows what ? Clearly the women steal children while the men are out nicking the cables of the railways. Not like they havn't got enough grubby little kids of their own.
Its the 'bogey man' stories like fairy tales now, when's the jolly green giant going to come along to eat them all up ?
The newspapers are just loving it and if you were a truly aggrieved parent you would have called a stop to this rubbish ages ago.

I think it's the paedo Raymond Hewlett you're thinking of, Panda... he wanted paying for his information but they wouldn't pay him (although there was money in the fund for such information) and his son allegedly burnt the letter from his dad.Panda wrote:Iris wrote:My experience of gypsies is that they usually have a load of children of their own. 'I know who took Madeleine McCann': Deathbed letter from paedophile suspect makes abduction clue claimBy Daily Mail Reporter
A paedophile suspected of being involved in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann 'confessed' to knowing what happened to the little girl on his deathbed, it has been claimed.
Raymond Hewlett wrote to his estranged son denying he played a part in the three-year-old’s abduction, but claimed he knew she had been ‘stolen to order’ by a gypsy gang.
Cancer sufferer Hewlett, who has a record of raping and abducting children, had previously claimed to have seen the missing toddler twice before she vanished in 2007.
Paedophile Raymond Hewlett has reportedly confessed to knowing who abducted Madeleine McCann, who went missing in May 2007
Detectives working for Kate and Gerry McCann (pictured) are said to be 'extremely interested' in Hewlett's claims and are said to be preparing to interview his son Wayne about the letter
But he vowed only to reveal where he was the night she went missing if he was paid thousands of pounds.
Kate and Gerry McCann’s private detectives refused the request.
Today his son Wayne claimed to the Sun that the letter was delivered to him by a mystery man a week after he died in April.
Wayne, who has had no contact with his father for 20 years, claimed his father insisted he had nothing to do with Madeleine’s disappearance – but that he knew who did.
He said: ‘He said a very good gipsy friend he knew in Portugal had got drunk and “let it out” that he had stolen Maddie to order as part of a gang.
‘My dad said this gang had been operating for a long time and had snatched children before for couples who couldn’t have children of their own.
‘Maddie had been targeted. They took photos of children and send them to the people they were acting for. And they said Yes or No.’
Private detectives working for the McCanns are said to be ‘extremely interested’ in the claims and are preparing to interview Wayne.
Wayne, 40, says he burned the letter because it ‘unnerved’ him so much.
The Sun reported they learned of the existence of the note through another source and confirmed they had not been approached by Wayne originally.
Madeleine went missing from The Ocean Club Hotel in Praia da Luz in the Portuguese Algarve while her parents dined at a restaurant on the resort.
Hewlett was living with his family on a campsite an hour’s drive away at the time.
