Barring a miracle, I think the review will conclude that Madeleine was abducted by person or persons unknown. I was also wondering if they have a time limit for this review.

If they say that she was abducted then they will either be lying or haven't read the files.

But that conclusion would have to be based upon the weight of evidence, incomplete though it seems to be.

And there has never been any persuasive evidence to support the abduction hypothesis.

Not then, not since and not now.

When the police took away 30 boxes of documents from the Metodo3 office, I don't believe they were just looking for leads that hadn't been followed up.

If the review does conclude that Madeleine was abducted, the McCanns will be crowing like mad. They will keep begging for money, to pay for "searches" for Madeleine and some silly devils will keep sending them money.

To be honest, if this review is conducted in a fair and honest way, S.Y. and the P.J. should bring the McCanns to justice. They only have the McCanns word that Madeleine was abducted. They know like we know, that the McCanns never searched for Madeleine and they lied through their teeth to save their own skins.

If the McCanns are exonerated, we will know once and for all that the justice system in Portugal and the UK is corrupt and there is a reason why the McCanns must never be brought to justice.

I agree with you Kathybelle if the review finds an abduction has taken place then I will for one ask them how they came to that scenario as there is no evidence whatsoever. Sadly I will need an FOI request that unless Madeleine is found alive or dead the Met will refuse to answer anyway.

Maryb as regards timescale on the review there is no fixed time or amount to be spent on it.

The End Is Nigh I also agree with you. I think it is the advent of attacking libel companies like Carter-Ruck that are killing of investigative journalism off. As we have seen several times Carter-Ruck may win out of court simply because others can't afford to fight them - even though Carter-Ruck's clients are not always in the right (in fact IMO usually quite the opposite).

Unless SY come across some evidence to the contrary they must agree with the PJ Final Report which gave 4 scenarios.

1. Madeleine died in 5a

2. Madeleine was abducted

3.Someone help me out....I can"t remember the other 2 Likely outcome of the review 23324

Socrates, who was said to be in cahoots with Brown is no longer President and the PJ will want it to be known that they did all they could to find
Madeleine and I think after the Metropolitan Police corruption in the phone hacking scandal they should ensure they are doing a thorough job and not
lletting Clarence and the McCanns know what they are doing.

If Scotland Yard do conclude Maddie was abducted, we will then know for sure that there`s massive corruption going on at very high levels.

I really don`t think SY dare conclude such a thing. The worst they can do is settle for `Inconclusive` or something similar and, even then, a big question mark will remain over the McCanns.

No matter what any establishment body conclude, millions of people all over the world will always know they`re guilty. They can sue people till they`re blue in the face - it won`t change what the world thinks.

If SY come back with an abduction it will just magnify just how clever Amaral is, he for one had it worked out within a few weeks, NSY will have ALL the evidence at their finger tips, and the PJ could push this (if they wouldn't to get this case moving) now if they cover this up, I for one will call it a day.

On FB and Twitter there seems tobe a lot of activity regarding Maddys body SOON tobe discovered? they also seems tobe an awful lot of people questioning the McCanns, so imo I dont things are going quite so well for the Mcs, WHY???

The likely outcome should be the only outcome with what evidence thats available...cadaver dog alerts on Mccann clothes, car, key fob & apartment wardrobe...all thats missing is the collabarating evidence:the body

Then we have the evidence of a cover up:washed curtains, sofa moved, floor scrubbed, beds moved, metodo 3,Kevin Haligen, britians finest x plod & not one tiny piece of dna to say Madeleine had been in that apartment

Now evidence of an abduction:a finger print? a footprint? a hair? a fibre? a witess...oh Jane Tanner Likely outcome of the review 23324

Post  nospinnaker Fri 30 Dec - 12:29

The review may, of course, unearth something new. All those boxes of paperwork from Metodo 3 may just contain a snippet that didn't surface at the time, the poring over the Police files may strike a nerve with one of the Met's team, and they may just have the advantage of background information from the UK which could conceiveably show existing evidence in a new light.

The Met are professionals, and they have the huge advantage of being native English speakers. That's going to negate at a stroke any translation errors or misunderstanding where witnesses have made their statements in English. They also have the advantage that by now they will be pretty much aware, of all that passed between the various consular contacts and the McCanns, they will be aware of any McCann contacts in this country together with their likely habits, and they will probably be completely up to date with all the texting and phone calling. Whilst the latter my not have been considered allowable in a Portugues court it's all useful stuff. The McCanns' bank details and transactions will be up there for the team to see; again not anything useful in court but indicative all the same.

And of course the Met's team will have had the advantage - a double edged sword to be sure - of absorbing the thoughts, jottings, musings and sleuthings of both sides engaged in the war of words being played out on the internet.

They will take comfort in the fact that their findings are not for public consumption, but they will be aware that any fudging would attract a storm of quite well informed protest. But they won't cover anything up, they don't have to. If absolutely no news comes out of this we won't know what to think. If the McCanns end up in chokey we will have a good idea it was the Met what done it.

It is in both the UK's and Portugal's interests to lance this boil once and for all.
Does either nation really want it to fester away for another five years?

More confusion? More frustration? More lies? More infuriating bandwagon jumping? More lawsuits flying all over the place? More persecution of those whose only 'crime' is to care and to question? More fingers cynically pointed at innocent people? More little blonde girls splashed all over newspapers? More kids being grabbed in the street? More banned books and online censorship?

If no-one in authority can see the wisdom of putting and end to all that, then the upper echelons of both countries can be officially declared BARKING. Likely outcome of the review 847843

Thanks, kathybelle!

And I must also add another reason why this must be brought to an end.

It might happen again.

Unless the perp is put away, it might happen again.
I know there are people out there who believe that it couldn't happen again. Fair play to them - it's a reasonable school of thought and has been well argued in the past.

But it was GM himself, someone closer to the action than anyone, who, in an uncharacteristically measured blog, talked about the 'moment of madness'.

What defines a 'moment of madness'?
The fact that, by its very nature, the act is performed by someone who is out of control, or for a time has lost control.
Therefore a second 'moment of madness' cannot be insured against. Steps cannot be taken to prevent it. Those with the powers of limited and intermittent intervention cannot prevent it. All it would take is for a similar set of circumstances or an equivalent amount of tension to suddenly materialise and control is lost once more.
Imagine waking up one morning and hearing your radio telling you once again that 'a child has gone missing'.
Heaven forbid that history repeats.
A police review which once and for all puts that fear to rest is the only one worth having.

'A moment of madness' (GM)....or 'we were being watched' (KM). Being stalked/watched for days doesn't constitute a moment of madness. I do wonder to whom GM was referring....no prizes for guessing. And yes, I do hope this review is not a paper exercise. No repetitions please of this debacle.

I hope I"m wrong but Cameron/Murdoch/McCanns could mean SY are not allowed to produce a negative Report. It seems as though Cameron has already
made up his mind that the Report will not be available to the Public......why not when It"s taxpayers money paying for it?

The FSS have apparently disposed of the samples because they said the PJ never asked for their return, Leicester Police have been overfriendly towards the McCanns ....will SY shop them if they find any evidence that they were remiss in their handling of the caae?

Lots of ifs and buts , let"s juat hope Amaral wins and is allowed to produce evidence from the files which have never been reported. All these rumours
of a body are interesting I bet the McCanns are reading them.

I posted this on the Daily News Thread. It"s from a sky comment on predictions for 2012, mostly Political but was surprised to read it, which is why I started a thread here.

5) Amaral wins Libel case against the McCanns, fresh evidence comes to
light implicating McCanns in disapearence of their daughter but case
remains unsolved.

One of the posters on the main Madeleine thread posted that someone on twitter has said they will find a body, presumably Madeleines.

I am not a member of twitter or facebook either, it"s all I can do to post on here. Likely outcome of the review 294124

The trouble is a crime has been committed and someone, or two or a few people are responsible for what happened to Madeleine.

I don't know of any policeman that would be willing to take a bung to keep it quiet, especially not now.

If the Met don't put an end to this case it will keep coming back just like Stephen Lawrence's case has.
