New Book in French....similar to McCann saga?

Post  ann_chovey on Fri 6 Jan - 18:50

Dreyfus has changed the story to a French family holidaying in Italy. One of their children, Madec, has an accident in the apartment and dies. The mother finds the body and hides it. The parents are doctors from Normandy going by the name of Macand apparently.

_3260.html

Another Book

Post  Guest on Fri 6 Jan - 18:51

This one is on Elle's top ten "must read" list. It's by Arthur Dreyfus and is called "Belle Famille" (Beautiful Family).

http://www.elle.fr/Loisirs/Livres/Dossiers/Top10/Livres-le-top-ten-du-ELLE33/Belle-famille-d-Arthur-Dreyfus-Gallimard

I haven't read it for myself yet, but I am told it is about a faked abduction. The parents are both doctors and the child is called Madec Macand.

snap!

In a less tragic register, Arthur Dreyfus gets down, with Nice family, to tell what a news item reveals of the society where it occurs by taking over a recent and resounding history, that of MADDIE MCCANN, small 4-year-old Englishwoman disappeared from its bed, during a stay in Portugal, while his parents had dinner in some dozens metres. Arthur Dreyfus certainly looks after to invoke in preamble " the imprescriptible rights of imagination " dear to Aragon and transposes history into a French family crossing his vacation in Italy. It hides nothing of its inspiration however by calling his figure of child Madec, for instance. But it gives up the mysterious dimension of disappearing: page 80, Madec dies from a stupid accident in the home and his mother, finding his body, decides to remove it. The true subject of the author, with this history where no one is indeed guilty, it is the way a hypermedia news item is born. It is the frenzy which takes over journalists, policies, all those who can take advantage in either way from a history as that one. Emotional, out of necessity emotional, since it is about the disappearing of a child. Distance that the invention in comparison with real facts introduces such as they are known allows to take the height, to reject flight-tear to the advantage of cogitation. By scooping out from the sources of such a sensitive case to deliver a squeaky and often odd novel, the young person Arthur Dreyfus, 24 years old, made a filled bet, and carries it off. The reading of Nice family encourages to wonder about what enthralls us so much in the bet in tale of news items with feelings. In his nice try A day, crime (Gallimard, on 2011), the psychoanalyst and writer Jean-Bertrand Pontalis explained: the taste of these stories where are satisfied our violent impulses reminds of our nature of " innocent criminals ". » http: // www.lemonde.fr / book / article / 20... _3260.html

The critics are good, the young writter talentuous and Gallimard is the best known edition. A success most probably with the Mccann story seen with the same eyes than us, "nuttters" on the net. Here is the French summary. Could Anna translate please. Very interesting:

google translation:

Child strange, silent and solitary, Madec lives in Granville with his parents and two brothers. While the family is on holiday in Tuscany with a couple of friends, Madec nearly drowned in the pool. He is saved by an Englishman, Ron Murdoch, an ex-convict who served a long sentence in England for pedophilia. One night, while her parents dined at a restaurant with friends, Madec accidentally kills himself in the kitchen of the bungalow. Returning to the blue in the middle of the meal, Laurence found his son dead on the floor. Without thinking, she takes the body and makes it disappear, before joining the others in the restaurant as if nothing had happened. Back in the bungalow, the disappearance triggers a general alarm. Battered, research, police investigation, paparazzi: a few days, parents are becoming stars. the uncle of the child orchestrates a media campaign that moves the world - until Pope John Paul II. expedited Italian by an inspector, the survey is followed up by France instead. the English quickly Murdoch accused of kidnapping and killing Madec. His past plead against him ... Inspired by a recent news story, Arthur Dreyfus describes an often cruel irony that family frozen in silence and cowardice, and with the solitude of poetry involved Madec. gradually moved closer to a climate of insanity, in which the mother, enigmatic and silent, plays a central role . it will be understood why she gradually hides the death of her child ... The book is tomorrow in the libraries.
In the magazine "Elle" top ten, with this enthousiastic comment:

« Belle famille », d’Arthur Dreyfus (Gallimard).

It will be very difficult for Carter Ruck to suppress this book!

It is not one of Rosiepops' $695 vanity publishers, neither. It's published by Editions Gallimard, they're one of the biggest publishers in France and are very well respected. I am also assuming that they have a team of in-house lawyers who felt it was safe to publish this "novel".

Seriously, how long do you think that Amazon will continue to sell it, before getting Carter Rucked? Like Pat Brown was? Of course, Gallimard might have something to say about it, and Amazon might not want to pi55 them off....

Adam Tudor from CR (cunningly disguised as Officer Crabtree) is hurriedly dispatched by plane to France to harangue the latest offending author.

"It's another bewk" he sighs.
