PJ Denies the Existence of a New Lead About Maddie’s Whereabouts

An official source of the PJ told Renascença that the news about the Portuguese authorities having given leads about the appearance of the girl in Spain do not have any basis.

The PJ categorically denies the news published in the Spanish paper “Diário Sur”,
According to which the neighbouring country’s authorities are investigating a new lead, allegedly provided by the Portuguese police, about the whereabouts of Madeleine McCann.

An official PJ source told Renascença that the news did not have any basis and is completely false. According to “Diário Sur”, the new lead arrived at the Spanish authorities ten days ago and relates that a girl with great similarities to Maddie had been seen in the city of Nerja, close to Málaga.

I haven't fainted, but shocked to the core. I really thought this was it and there would be no need for a new and improved bewk (released 10 May) after all.

I wonder who is responsible for this latest story. Doesn't look as if it is Madeleine to anybody. So why put out the story. To whose advantage are these stories. And what is the point of them. I think it's disgusting.

why are the mccanns not absolutely (enraged,livid,disgusted) with the press for giving the abductor time to hide maddie again.

absolutely. they were quick enough to join in the Levenson enquiry about press and inaccurate reporting, how about K and G or a family source, or someone close to the family, or their spokesman speaking out about this and correcting this and other reports. Huffington post claims DNA was taken from a girl in India, we know that didnt happen, or that there wasnt even a girl, so why dont the McCs correct things like this, after all it is inaccurate, ludicrous and unhelpful reporting. jimo

So how much money from the fund has been spent on following up this lead - afer all - that's what its there for - its why people donated and bought the booik!

The PR section of TM will be loosing their credibility with the press soon Good for the PJ - its about time feeding the press with a load of bunkham was stopped. There should be a full investigation of where this story came from and how it got in the press in the first place and those responsible charged with wasting police time and mis-representation. You never know - Clarry might even get charged with impersonating a policeman - the laughing policeman! HaHahaHaHaHaHaHaha - Ohhhh Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Somebody put this idea on twitter last night - if there are all these new "sightings", then Goncalo Amaral's book is clearly having little or no deterrent effect on people searching. So what's the court case all about then?
