I often wonder if they do - just to make sure they haven`t missed anything. When you look at all the info available on sites like this and Joana`s, Jill`s, etc., they`d be daft not to make use of these resources.

I'd be surprised if they dip into the ether unless for a specific reason - let's face it, they should have access to all that we have and much, much more. And they can't all be dunderheads without analytical minds!

They may not gain any information from what has been released but there are many examples of discrepancies highlighted that could save them a lot of time to view.

I have spent, I wouldn't like to guess, probably hundreds of hours creating timelines/timetables which highlight the discrepancies in an easy to read format to compare their statements for specific times.

There is no question in my mind that it would save an enormous amount of time to view the comparisons for future research.

Whether they use them or even know they are available is anyone's guess.

We can only hope they do dip into the internet from time to time.

If I was an officer on the case I would do so. Remember the evidence in this case is not simply to be found in the police files but in media interviews given by the McCanns and others in the case

Yes, this is an excellent resource and would save them bags of time - though I suppose they would have to double check it all for corroboration but an excellent starting point for an over view.

I would sincerely imagine that they would not
only monitor websites and forums but would
most likely be active within them.
As other posters have pointed out, it would
prove an invaluable resource as it has captured
endless evidence and analytical discussion
and leads that any investigation would find
constructive.
A few posters recently were not playing
'devil's advocate' but in my opinion were
gleaming information and gauging opinions.

That had crossed my mind as well. Would explain his/her obsession with `insufficient evidence`, staying totally controlled at all times but would not, IMO, explain his/her superior attitude - you`d expect a SY fisherman to act a bit more warmly if they wanted to glean info.

Here is a copy of the mission statement from SY re the Madeleleine Mccann case................

Please note how SY refer to the investigation remit as if the Abduction had occured in the UK !

Op Grange Remit

The support and expertise proffered by the Commissioner will be provided by the Homicide & Serious Crime Command - SCD1.

The activity, in the first instance, will be that of an ‘investigative review’. This will entail a review of the whole of the investigation(s) which have been conducted in to the circumstances of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.

The focus of the review will be of the material held by three main stakeholders (and in the following order of primacy);

• The Portuguese Law Enforcement agencies.
• UK Law Enforcement agencies,
• Other private investigative agencies/staff and organisations.

The investigative review is intended to collate, record and analyse what has gone before.

It is to examine the case and seek to determine, (as if the abduction occurred in the UK) what additional, new investigative approaches we would take and which can assist the Portuguese authorities in progressing the matter. Whilst ordinarily a review has no investigative remit whatsoever- the scale and extent of this enquiry cannot permit for such an approach. It will take too long to progress to any “action stage” if activity is given wholly and solely to a review process.

The ‘investigative review’ will be conducted with transparency, openness and thoroughness.

The work will be overseen through the Gold Group management structure, which will also manage the central relationships with other key stakeholders and provide continuing oversight and direction to the investigative remit.

End

This is the first time i have looked for this and find it a little disturbing that they start from the presumption of an Abduction !

Leveson also referred to Abduction as if it were proven and incontrovertible fact.

Truly disgraceful.

Reading what 'nutters' say?? i guess we are the minority...we look into the madeleine case & do so without thought of financial gain
i would hope that the sy review, would at first start with the theory of abduction...then after they have seen that this is ludicrous(sorry),then take a look at the mccanns & co...although,surely they must know where all roads lead to anyway & that goes for cameron too

Using the word "abduction" worried me, but abduction doesn`t just mean taking away a live Maddie.

Abduct means `take away` or `take away forcefully`, so it doesn`t rule out the possibility that the parents abducted their own child, whether alive or dead.

It also says "the activity, in the first instance, will be an investigative review", so its only a review `in the first instance`.

Don't forget that the police team have stated that they are willing to receive and review any information from members of the public.
I do hope you have printed that all out and sent it off to them in the post!

Same goes to anyone else here!

I think its logical to start with that premise as that is how the disapearence was first reported to them -as an abduction.

You have to remember that it was the british police that helped the portugese to develop the accidental death and coverup scenario,
so we do know what people behind the scenes really think. If they stated anything other than 'abduction' they would be sending a red flag to the Mccann's to start interfering. Also as it is an investigative review, that is being undertaken as if it happened in the UK is a positive as under UK law (Similar to the USA) the DNA Markers could be said to categorically match MM, it is Portugal which has the higher level of proof. Also acting as if it happened in the UK gives them more powers... including that of arrest!

Who are Gold Group Management ? This suggests SY are under the influence of some other organisation. And why the use of the word 'Stakeholder'.Sounds like some establishment control has been factored in.

I notice it was brought in after the Stephen Lawrence investigation was found to be lacking.

"Its central aim is to consider the needs of the victim, family, community, the investigation and the vulnerability to the MPS."

I suppose it depends who they consider the victim is - will it be Maddie or will it be her parents? And I wonder if the MET are being totally open and transparent with them?
