David Beckham will get his biggest-ever worldwide audience of two billion
people after landing a multi-million pound advertising spot at the Super
Bowl.


The footballer, who recently re-signed for American team
LA Galaxy, models his new range of underwear for H&M in the commercial.

It will appear in the second-quarter break during the game between the New
England Patriots and the New York Giants on Sunday.

The Swedish clothing retailer is investing heavily in the venture with
advertising slots for this year's Super Bowl costing an average of $3.5m
(£2.2m).

A spokesman for NBC, which broadcasts the Super Bowl, said one sponsor paid
$4m (£2.5m) for a 30-second space.

H&M had previously used online and print advertising rather than TV.

Speaking about the nine-piece bodywear collection, Beckham said: "It was
something that I wanted to go into, something that I was very passionate about
and also something that I created myself.

"It's very personal to me and I'm very proud of it."

Volkswagen's ad, The Force, featuring a mini Darth Vader, became the most
watched ad of 2011 after it was put online before being shown on TV during last
year's Super Bowl.

Around 90 million fans watch the Super Bowl in the US and more than two
billion worldwide.

Last year, Simon Cowell used a spot on the Super Bowl to promote the US X
Factor.


The average cost of a Super Bowl ad this year is
£2.2m

There's an article in today's Daily Mail about the Beckhams. Apparently, they wouldn't mind having a fifth child! There's a photo with the article of Victoria, on sky scraper platform shoes, carrying her daughter. Stupid woman! It must be very easy to fall over in those shoes, though I don't imagine she was going to be doing much walking. Just as well her daughter is not likely to be attending a comprehensive in a run-down area because with a name that sounds like a fizzy drink, she may get picked on!

I know I need to get out more but I find it interesting to read the names that celebrities bestow on their children. Those chosen by the Beckhams seem okay compared with some of this lot!
