i must confess i am fascinated by psychics and have watched one from new zealand and another from Australia on a programme called Psychic detectives and they are amazing, just cant remember their names.

Also (showing just what a nutter i am) the dna machine has a basis in quantum physics where a dna sample is matched by vibration frequency much like tuning in a radio, well thats the theory anyway.......... opening the door to the men in white coats, and asking them in for a cuppa. jimo.

Gerry's first trip home was 21st May when he went to Rothley for more photos and I think also for the pillowcase. I remember he was taken there by police and also he stopped at the Cenotaph to see the tributes, yellow ribbons etc.

The 'filthy animal' allegedly nicked his wallet on the next trip, 19th June.

IIRC the letters sent to Rothley immediately afterwards went into boxes labelled "nice", "nasty" and "nutters". Clearly the psychics didn't go into the "nutters" box because Mister Gerry then tried to pass a load of tip-offs from psychics onto the PJ, and he expected the PJ to run themselves ragged all over the place, chasing them all up. I forget where I read this but it was somebody in the PJ who said so.

gosh tanszi, please do not think i was being rude or offensive. i clearly have little understanding of the mechanics of such things. i am just surprised that they would rubbish the dogs findings and other more conventional methods of investigation and embrace what i thought was relatively unknown technology, in particular at such an early stage of madeleine being missing.

tanzi, I'll tell you a funny story, that still makes me laugh. Years ago a Friend and I went to a phsycics convention held in a Hotel in Town. There was a room with a display of all kinds of Stones and a row of physics seated at tables and you could choose who you wanted to see. My neighbour came out and had
a session with this blond woman and said she was marvellous, so I went to her table and sat down after paying my £5. She started off reading the cards, said nothing relevant, then read my palm , again nothing. I told her I was disappointed and she asked if there was anything specific I wanted to know. I
said that I was going on holiday soon (if she had said not to go on flight 545 I might have taken note.) anyway, she was reading my palm again and asked if I was going bald. I was a bit surprised and said "no, Iv'e always had fine hair ", she said " I beg your pardon, I said "what did you say?" she said "Are you going abroad. I went into fits of laughter and she went red with embarassment saying she would never have asked me such a question.

that so made me laugh. I read an article in the daily mail magazine about this particular psychic, he was very well known and very popular (and very costly). I had a reading with him which didnt relate to me at the time, nor since, i subsequently saw him some years later and he asked me when i explained my disappointment, he said We all get off days". and thats true so he gave me another reading for free. he said i was very intelligent so i think he was great

Yes AnnaEsse I agree, I havn't been to one for years but remember 2 in particular. The first time the Male psychic suddenly said "who is Cissie? she is
holding a bunch of Sweet Peas above your head and says everything will be alright." I was dumbstruck !! I had an Auntie Cissie who had died some years

My son and his girlfiend of 4years broke up last Sept, she went to have her cars read, she was told that she would be married with twins in the next 18months , when I told my son at the time, he said "well that wont be with me then... 1. I dont wont to get married, 2. Im only 23 (he is in his last year at Uni) I dont want kids till Im atleast 30 and 3. I dont want a girlfriend, thats why we have broke up".

They got back together in Nov and she has just found out she is pregnent, and guess what, they said because she is so very sick ALL DAY, that she could be having twins, so we are all waiting now for the 5th March, to find out from the scan if she is having twins!!!

The McCanns were into psychics almost immediately. Two arrived from the Cardiff area early in May. They helpfully homed in on a yacht - they were apparently 'friends of the family'.
The US TV did a film about the abduction. Lots of opportunities for a blonde woman to stand on the sea shore and say that this is where the abductor stood, this is where he watched her, etc. All absolute rubbish.
Clarrie, not long before he left said that there were still some 500 plus psychic sightings to investigate.
No the psychic card was there from the outset. Very useful if you need publicity at any time. just pull out a sighting or a psychic. Newspapers love it.

I'm sure that these two men may think themselves genuine, but everything they said is already been aired hundreds of times.

I'm also sure there are very good psychics - but they can't work in 'contaminated' atmospheres.

Have watched many psychics over the years, and I don't believe in them personally.

the Portugese media. As you say, the use of physics as just
the messenger but getting a very serious message accross.

It might have been interesting if there was an apparently reputable psychic like the one in the videos, Dorothy Allison, who knew nothing other than that Madeleine had gone. Now it's too late, there can be few people in the world who don't know about the case.

Back in 1989 I was dealing with a caller on the phone at work whom I'd never spoken to before. He suddenly came out with the comment that my sister would be contacting me with a surprise announcement. I said it was unlikely as we had been estranged for some years but he insisted she would contact me. Indeed she did - with the news of a most unexpected pregnancy at the age of 44!

Apart from that I've had no positive reactions at all with psychics but I feel that, if they give some people comfort and they don't take advantage financially, there's no harm in them.

I am fascinated by all of your experiences and I do think that there are good and bad. I do believe that the two people on the video don't inspire me and I would be very wary of them.

However, I would say that the circumstances during which Madeleine disappeared may be relevant - I think that it is during strong emotional times these "messages" are transmitted and received by Psychics. I also believe that perpetrators of crimes also transmit these "messages" and can give information of locations as well as the "victims".
