Presumably they're all getting their information from the same place, but it adds to the info that slipped out a few weeks ago in (I think) one Sunday newspaper about the Tapas crew being talked to by Scotland Yard.

Indeed jejune, and all this baloney maybe
to nurture the green-shoots of a 'supergrass'.
Lets hope so.

No, Bob Dylan didn't sing that one!

Look out kid, don't matter what you did
But walk on your tip toes don't tie no bows
Better stay away from those that carry around a fire hose
Keep a clean nose, watch the plain clothes
You don't need a weather man to know which way the wind blows

Deputy Director of National Judicial says this is normal procedure and no new data that could reopen the case.

09-03-2012 13:23

The National Directorate of Judicial Police (PJ) confirms that the Renaissance is to review the process of the disappearance of Maddie for a year now, in conjunction with Scotland Yard.

A review of all evidence gathered during the investigation, according to the assistant national director of PJ, it is common practice. Pedro do Carmo explains that the aim is to ensure that those elements not included information that would allow new runways.

"The National Directorate of Judicial Police was a year ago a working group who undertook the task to review the evidence from research appearing in the process," explains Pedro do Carmo.

The assistant national director of PJ says that this "is a common practice in modern police criminal investigation" and what we want "is to ensure that, in fact, these elements do not appear to information that may allow new insights into the circumstances in which Young was the disappearance of Maddie McCann. "

On the assumption of any new data that could reopen the case, Pedro do Carmo is peremptory: "No".

The assistant national director of PJ reiterates that "the working group's mission is to re-examine the familiar elements." "It's a group that has no long-term pre-determined, nor has a date for the submission of its findings" and that " also works in conjunction with the team that was formed by the Metropolitan Police. "

Apparently it will give the Mccann's fresh hope!!!!

The only way that they would reopen the case is if they were certain they would get a result (AKA The British Police have been helping them to 'develop' the case again...

There is not a chance they would open it for no reason as the diplomatic fallout and embaressment to the force (again) would be unsustainable!

2012 is the year we are going to finally see the Mccann's behind bars!!!

I agree Loopdaloop

Especially Scotland Yard, with the expense this exercise has incurred, they must justify their numbers and time .

If the intention was for the Report not to be made public, there is no chance with half of Europe showing such interest after all these years. it will be
very interesting to know what they come up with besides what we already know. I would imagine the bulk of the investigation is over, SY have been in Portugal for several weeks now and with all the Police involved, it wouldn't take long .

'This is all I can say but obviously the most plausible explanation for what’s happening is this one, that information passed to or acquired by the Judicial Police in Porto has put them on the trail of something specific

i hope that explanation above is true...ahh,the glass is half empty...seems too good to be true

Nah. Terror that the net is closing in may prevail, though. I wonder who will crack first.

Yes, my generous nature came up with "conscience", but it wasn't terribly realistic.

Thanks for the link, the comments section tells a very interesting story, i'm surprised to see the moderation hasn't been as biased as usual. Very interesting - something has to give, something's brewing.

Anyone else note the tone of reporting has changed? Even GA gets a mention in this one.

Today's (10th March) Daily Star

MADDIE CASE RE-OPENED
10th March 2012
By Jerry Lawton

POLICE in Portugal have set up a new team of detectives to look again into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

It comes almost four years after the probe was formally shelved as an unsolved mystery.

The outside squad of officers will have had no previous involvement with the case and have been told to go over the thousands of pages of case files in a search for new clues.

Madeleine’s parents Kate, 44, and Gerry, 43, are convinced their daughter, who would be nine in two months, is still alive and have long campaigned for the case to be re-opened.

Last night their spokesman Clarence Mitchell told the Daily Star: “Kate and Gerry welcome this as a positive development.”

News of the reopened Portuguese inquiry comes after Prime Minister David Cameron, 45, ordered Scotland Yard detectives to conduct a similar review, which is ongoing.

A source close to the case said there was now “good cooperation” between the Portuguese and British police.

The source added: “There are new officers with fresh eyes looking at this case for the first time.”

Madeleine vanished from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on the Algarve on May 3 2007 while her parents were dining with friends in a nearby tapas bar.

The officer in charge of the original probe Goncalo Amaral, 51, pictured above, was sacked after five months.

He is facing a £1million libel suit from the McCanns after claiming in his book that he believed Madeleine, then three, died accidentally and her parents covered up her death.

The couple, from Rothley, Leics, furiously deny his claims and have insisted their daughter was abducted.
