Kate McCann Book: Plant Pot through the windscreen /Sasha

Everything happens to the McCanns doesn't it? I put this yarn in the same filing cabinet as things like Gerry's wallet being stolen, helping someone on a plane who'd had a heart attack and helping a drunk lying comatose in the road somewhere. Yes, it's the cabinet marked "TALL STORIES".

If you add all the stories directly relating to Madeleine, both before and after her "disappearance", there is a distinct danger that the cabinet will overbalance and fall over!

UK press would have had a party over that for weeks if true. (incident-arrest-court-charges-fines-etc. etc.) What makes me believe it's just lots of tosh. kates "me victim" fantasies running wild. imo

Well, I don't know. Kate kicking and breaking a bed (which looks very sturdy on the photographs), the number of times the word 'fury' or 'furious' is used in the book - makes me think.
If a plant pot went flying and so serendipitously (wow! I spelled it without mistakes) hit another person's car, I can see Kate throwing it. Perhaps it makes an appearance in the book just in case it's remembered by someone who knows it wasn't the weird man.

This little story serves two purposes, they were and are beset by cranks and dangerous idiots and have suffered damage.

I believe the flying plant pot, just don't believe Kate. This type of story fits the profile to a 't'.

'I didn't do it! That horrible ugly man did it.' That reminds me about these creepy men in PdL..... it's all the same story isn't it?

IMO tigger, your interpretation is spot on. Yes, it's all the same story - 'story' being the operative word.

(Portions of the motorway were reported as being closed to traffic when the McCanns returned from Portugal), so what would be the chances of someone leaping over their back fence?
There never was any report in the Leicester Mercury of any attack on the McCanns. There was however a windscreen replaced in their drive about that time by a well known nationwide windscreen replacement company, but that was caused I'm led to believe by road chippings.

The man with the 'poorly head' suggests to me that Kate McCann remarked to the twins that he was 'not right in the head'..

Road chippings I do not believe as breaking a windscreen, damaging it, but not so much that you'd need a call out. But a plant pot against a car window might damage it enough to block the view.

I share your image of Kate throwing a tantrum geranium..... but, road chippings can and do break windscreens tigger, you are correct however, more often than not they will damage them. But, a damaged windscreen is an insurance risk and if not repairable must be replaced. In a new vehicle they are almost always replaced.

Perhaps it was supposed to hit gerrys head but missed and hit the car.

He's persistent.

But WHY is he calling?
And WHY is he persistent?

He must have announced himself, or at least his purpose, on at least one of his persistent calls.
WHY do we not know WHY he was calling, in such a frequent and persistent fashion?
WHY did he keep coming back, with such an increasingly bad temper which led him to commit an act of vandalism?
WHY, if we are being persuaded that this man was a dangerous, violent nutter, is he being described as a genteel tea-and-biscuits 'caller'?
Intruder? Stalker? Nuisance? Very likely.
But, 'caller'? Hmmm.

As with many McCann Jackanories, the most interesting question is often 'WHY?'
And true to form, it's the one which is never explained.

The word 'caller' suggests that, initially, this man was not the threat he eventually became.
Maybe he got short shrift the first time he arrived, but his reason for visiting was important enough for him to keep coming back, with mounting frustration.

That is of course if he ever existed.
The whole damn story could well be a cover for some domestic ding-dong that was going down at the time.
