Super Injunction
Hi,
Is there any evidence of a super injunction that people are aware of and the terms of the aforementioned super injunction.
Does anyone have any contacts that they could ask to find out? The quiet is indeed very strange!

Re: Super Injunction
Circumstantial only, I reckon: the thing is, where Super Injunctions do exist, they are invariably "outed" anyway.
Perhaps our Media are merely keeping their powder dry?

Re: Super Injunction
I've always thought it very strange why there have never been any articles about the background of the Terrible Tapas group. Usually they dig and dish up dirt by the bucketful but there hasn't been anything other than the Hotlips Healy reference, which was never followed up. Seems like there's a news blackout on the backgrounds of all of them, not even a comment from a concerned neighbour, patient, casual acquaintance, those they've come in contact with through their children or their working life. Just total silence.

Something that has always fascinated me about the U.K. press is that in their reporting they usually refer to the type of house (detached, semi-detached, etc.) and the value of same. In the early reports they did identify the tapas members by name, age, address (location), and profession but I don't recall in their particular cases that the press went into the usual description of their homes. I often wonder why the U.K. press find it necessary to include the type of accommodation and the value in their reporting. Is it a "class" thing to inform readers of the general socio-economic status of the subject of the reporting?

I would say that yes it is a class thing in that Doctors, both, who live in an 'executive house' whatever that means in a desirable area are to be trusted 100% where as an unemployed person, or manual worker who lives on a sink estate in an undesirable area isn't. And nothing could be further from the truth imo.

Re: Super Injunction
Many thanks for the replies. It seems to me that even in reporting of mundane matters, reporters go to the trouble of researching the value of the subject's property. It just "shows to go you" the press can do some investigation but not in the case of the McCanns where it is sorely lacking.

Re: Super Injunction
In leaning toward an initial injunction following the payouts.
However i think recent silence is due to a deal made with scotland yard for silence in exchange for media interviews pre and post investgation. (And also to make sure the mccanns cant argue that they wont get a fair trial)
I do wonder whether members of the shackled media are briefing certain blog owners though!!

Re: Super Injunction
Bearing in mind that the McCanns are represented by a formidable team of legal experts including one of the most notorious and ruthless libel practices that the UK has ever been unfortunate enough to see, IMO it would be absolutely incredible if there were no super injunction(s) in place to control the media.

Re: Super Injunction
I remember at the very beginning that either David Payne or Russell O'Brien said Gerry had asked them not to give any Press interviews and assumed it was because he wanted to ensure nothing would be said by any of the Tapas Group that deviated from the McCanns story.
When the Daily Express had to fork out nearly £1 million for it's reporting I would think the rest of the Press would steer clear of the Tapas 7 for fear of being sued. If you remember, the initial reporting centred on Philomena and Kate's Mother .nothing about the Tapas 7 who would have left PDL by then.

Re: Super Injunction
If there are Super Injunctions, then their scope must be poor, otherwise why would various Forums be permitted to continue examining all angles? Journalists can read them, as can the Beneficiaries and the Authorities.

Recent celeb superinjunctions became widely known about and names named on the internet, but the newspapers couldn't publish the names. Much as they may try, they can't shut up everyone on the internet, though lots of things get whooshed.
