Haley Cropper, months to live in coronation street

Is it just me, or does anyone find it distasteful that they use this pancreatic cancer sorry line of interest to viewers 
My sister is an avid viewer of coronation street, and she is her self fighting cancer, should we really have this on our TV
I feel sorry for anyone who is going through cancer and enjoy watching this soap having to watch this story line!

I thought the same, as my mother died of pancreatic cancer, but tbh, the same could be said of any show that has a murder storyline, a rape, a miscarriage....lots of people will be going through all those kind of things all the time sadly.

I suppose they are trying to show every aspect of daily life and how people deal with it. Although it must be very upsetting for people going through the same trauma.

In fairness, Corrie are usually the first soap to deal with major issues and they always do it sensitively. IIRC they were the first to deal with homosexuality, transgender issues, arranged marriages and surrogacy. I remember them doing childlessness at the same time as I was going through IVF in the 1980s and I was impressed at how well they had researched it and handled it. Unlike EastEnders, they just go for shock effect like the ridiculous Kat-Ronnie-Baby storyline.
