Almost certainly that's Susan Hubbard - photos of the two have been mixed up before.

Mrs McCann, who travelled to Portugal without her husband, could have been called as a witness, but is not expected to give evidence.

Instead, a number of relatives will appear in the witness box."

This is from the skynews report...the only witnesses mentioned are Emma Loach and Michael Wright, Emma responsible for the Madeleine Anniversary Channel 4 programmes., what can she say about Kate's health when kate looked well and described how the intruder entered the apartment.??? Michael Wright lives in Yorkshire I believe so couldn't have seen much of Kate normally. He spent some time with them in PDL where the McCanns were well enough to give daily briefings to the Press

For interest, this was Michael Wright on 17th May 2007, sounding as if he was promoting a new business which indeed he was!

At least the newspaper uses the term 'case closed' rather than 'McCanns cleared'. There is a big difference. Also they do not slag off Mr Amaral

I was passing the newsagents this morning and there was a big pile of Daily Expresses out on the stand. They had the big chocolate-box picture of the 18-month-old Maddie and the big headline "Brave Kate Faces New Ordeal in Portguese Court".

I was quite shocked to realise that she was actually going to turn up, as I was under the impression that she didn't have to. So if it's an ordeal, it's one of her own making. But then Dirty Des knows that, and will do anything to get his £500k back and stir the sh1t at the same time.

I always thought that a witness was someone who had actually seen an event and could report on it. What can Susan Hubbard and any of the others say as a witness. Are they going to voucher for how well Kate looked whilst in PDL, how the hairdresser had got just the right tone for her highlights, that her tan was even all over and made her look so relaxed, how much she and Gerry enjoyed their extended holiday. Come on, they can say nothing which would convey any level of trauma.

Exactly keela, it's all speculation and hearsay and the Court will have to disregard it.

Iris, it was over £1 million. Dirty Des had to pay the McCanns £600,000 ,plus the Tapas 7 £50, 000 each, plus their Legal Fees.!!! I do think there is something strange about Kate appearing in public to attend the Trial without Gerry ...it shows the World that they are not together on this IMO.

I also hope Kate is called to give evidence of the damage to her and the twins healthwise, Doctors Certificates? Phsychiatric Reports ? It has to be serious to demand E1 million and the sequestering of this sum. Kate will be beseiged by the Press outside Court today ...again , all of her own making.

As has been mentioned before, surely reports would have to be produced to show the stress and anxiety caused to the pair of them? The court can't just take it on face value? there has got to be some evidence to back up their claims.

So it was her child? I wouldn't have agreed to that. I know Kate got very friendly with the Hubbards, still is.......ah well, let's hope Amaral wins but his Lawyer will be hampered by the "no questions " rule, very strange . IMO

The Hubbards were there within a day or two of 3rd May but it seems to be a genuine coincidence.

Mrs. Hubbard who lives in Canada, who didn't even know Madeleine (or the McCanns) before the "abduction", is in Portugal, courtesy of the Fund no doubt, to "witness" the damage the book has caused. She is probably wishing the hearing was scheduled later providing her a break from our harsh Canadian winter.

There was an entire thread about this on the old 3As. The Hubbards were flown in from Canada - from near where Kate's aunties are. Another "co-incidence"?

Sometimes I get a fantasy that all this is a hoax and a scam and MBM is being brought up by relatives in Canada, and her parents didn't want to let on that they preferred this option. Wouldn't that be good for the poor child from all points of view! Fat chance!

Aren't the Hubbards living in PDL ? I thought the Husband had recently been appointed Minister for a COE not long before the McCanns holidayed there and Kate became friends with them while she was in PDL, they were living in Canada.
