UKIP showing their infighting

BLOOMING HECK

Day 1 of Ukip's annual conference went pear-shaped after an eccentric MEP called a room full of female activists "sluts", hit Michael Crick over the head with a campaign flyer and eventually had the party whip removed from him.

Godfrey Bloom, who in August said aid money shouldn't go to "bongo bongo land", insisted the "sluts" remark was a joke and said "everybody laughed including all the women". But not everyone saw the funny side. Diane James, one of the most senior women in Ukip, said it was "demeaning". And Nigel Farage complained that Mr Bloom had ultimately ruined the conference: "We can't have any one individual however fun or flamboyant or entertaining or amusing they are, we cannot have any one individual destroying Ukip's national conference and that is what he's done today."

The Tories will be delighted. Why bother with Lynton Crosby's planned "below-the-radar" anti-Ukip operation when the party produces so much bad PR of its own? Nigel Farage gave an (underwhelming) speech today. He was wasting his time. Our report here.

The Ukip leader said the party was just as likely to draw support from disgruntled Labour voters in the north as from disenchanted Tories in the south.

Speaking to The Telegraph during his party's two day conference in London, Mr Farage added that the suspension of its MEP Godfrey Bloom over his description of a group of women Ukip members as "sluts" marked a turning point for the party.

Mr Farage said it was "extremely unlikely" that Ukip would form an electoral pact with the Conservatives at the next election.

He said: "We're our own party with our own agenda. We are diametrically opposed to the Tories. We are opposed to HS2 and to wind farms, and we want to get on with fracking.

"We don't want to be members of the European Union and Mr Cameron does. On all those things we command majority support in this country."

============================

Nigel Farage talks the talk but UKIP does not have one MP and he is still an MEP.!!!

UKIP got carried away Badboy with the protest vote about the EU , they have been a Political party for long enough to contest at the last Election and maybe won a couple of seats. Farage is reluctant to give up his MEP job which he would have to if he wants to increase the UKIP vote, the LibDems are going nowhere so UKIP could target their seats.

Godfrey Bloom Quits As UKIP MEPThe controversial MEP will sit as an independent in the European Parliament, but retains his UKIP membership.12:00pm UK, Tuesday 24 September 2013 Godfrey Bloom will see out his term as an independent
EmailGodfrey Bloom has resigned as a UKIP MEP after he had the party whip suspended for calling women "sluts".

Mr Bloom, an MEP for Yorkshire and Humber, was stripped of the party whip last week following offensive remarks he made about women at a party event and an altercation with a TV journalist.

He will sit as an independent MEP for the rest of his term, and will remain a member of UKIP.

Mr Bloom said: "I have felt for some time now that the New UKIP is not really right for me anymore perhaps than New Labour was right for Dennis 'The beast of Bolsover' Skinner.

Bloom hit a TV journalist with a party booklet

"I shall sit out my term as an independent and give my wholehearted support to Jane Collins who is almost certainly going to be the next UKIP MEP and probably a second seat yet to be decided.

"I shall of course retain my membership."

His spokeswoman said it was not clear whether he would seek re-election for a third term next May.

Mr Bloom had the whip withdrawn after calling women at a conference fringe event "sluts" and hitting a TV journalist with a copy of the brochure for the gathering in Westminster.

Nigel Farage said Bloom had gone "way over the line"

UKIP leader Nigel Farage said Mr Bloom's antics had distracted attention from the party's core message, but stressed the party could still make serious inroads at Westminster in 2015 and potentially hold the balance of power after the election.

Mr Bloom insisted the "sluts" remark was a joke, but Mr Farage said the MEP had "just gone way over the line".
