very sad case, that just goes to show what can happen when leaving a three year old in charge of twin babies.

It is hard (for me at least) not to feel sorry for this woman and I would say the same for a certain pair if they had not gone to such lengths to cover up whatever happened.

People do sometimes make terrible decisions and mistakes - owning up to them is the right way to go about seeking understanding and forgiveness.

‘You were responsible for those young children in your care and there was a serious breach of the standards they were entitled to have.’

A case from Australia in 2008 though for some reason the inquest wasn't held until this year. I'm not sure if the facts of this case have been truly established though.

While no way an excuse for her irresponsible parenting skills, this woman was a single parent and did come from a 'lower class background'. A fact often commented that parents from council estates are judged by different standards than the more, 'respected and respectable, upper class members of our society'. How true!

The McCanns, as well educated, middle class medical professionals, were well aware of the hurts which could occur to young children left to their own devices. The Drs McCann, like many of their colleagues could and probably have, in their professional working day condemned parents who had placed their children in harms way through poor, careless or pressurised parenting.
