If, as has been suggested in Portugal, there was a “media circus” around the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, then it is the Portuguese police who are the clowns.

Cruel, stupid, spiteful clowns.

You would never guess it but Kate and Gerry McCann are not actually on trial in Lisbon.

Madeleine’s parents have brought legal action against detective Goncalo Amaral, who they accuse of libelling them in his book, Maddie: The Truth Of The Lie.

But the Portuguese plods have used the libel case to declare open season on the McCanns. One former policeman, Francisco Moita Flores, told the court that only the “distraction” of the “media circus” prevented the McCanns from being charged with negligence.

“No one believed it was an abduction,” he told the court. “It was a fairytale, a fable.”

But if Madeleine was not abducted, then what happened?

The Portuguese police were shown up as a bunch of clueless amateurs by the Madeleine case, and – shamed, embarrassed, infuriated – they turned their rage on the McCanns.

Even now, the Portuguese cops treat Kate and Gerry McCann with a grotesque lack of respect.

Asked if he cared that he had hurt the McCanns, Goncalo Amaral told a BBC reporter: “No, f*** the McCanns.”

A class act, that fat copper, who has sought to make money out of a stolen child – and the endless grief of her parents.

The greatest tragedy is, of course, that a little girl was stolen from her family.

But it is also genuinely tragic that the Portuguese police did not seriously look for the bastard who stole her.

And that’s because they have always been far too busy slandering that little girl’s parents.

All the more ammo for GA when HE starts looking round for people to sue.

And to think, he actually gets PAID for writing sh*te like that.

Parsehole is yet another example of why so many people have stopped buying newspapers.

These hacks are so thick that they willingly dig their own graves.

Can't imagine why his wife left him for another woman! Imagine living with a prick like that?

I read his book "Man and  Boy" and must admit I liked it.  It doesn't excuse his vitriolic comments ,he is probably one of these jaded reporters.

And that is wrong too. It was accepted it was wrong at the time but, hey ho, this would be a good time to ignore that fact and throw it back at Mr Amaral again.

As I said, Amaral should not be talking to any Reporter while the Trial is in Progress, hasn't done himself any favours , no doubt the McCanns have been told. I can understand his frustration when E1.2 million of his money has been sequestered and can't undersatand why this was allowed , it's like Guilty until proven Innocent.....very odd.

parson has missed something, that much is obvious.
Those smile started 6.5.2007..when they obviously thought they got a way with it. ( after 48 hours, even if body found, you cant tell exactly when the person died. k8 mccann: "the first 48 hours were the worst")

Whenever I read articles like this I wonder whatever happened to responsible journalism where people check their facts before printing such nonsense.

Mr Parsons is 60, not a wet behind the ears new boy. He must have encountered many cases before where the people guilty of crimes turn out to be closely connected to the victims.

He must have done no research at all into the McCann case not to realise that it absolutely stinks.

To quote a certain "lady" of this parish, he is a F****** T*****.

I too despair at the death of responsible journalism. "Journalism" has turned into absolute fluff and that is so disappointing.
