In an astonishing new twist to the story of abducted Madeleine McCann, The Daily Express can reveal that this weekend the Daily Express will publish yet ANOTHER story predicting arrests within the next six hours.
“This one’s really exciting,” said one fevered sub-editor. “In it we claim that by the time the first copies hit the newsstands, a crack team of detectives will have parachuted into the Algarve, made sixteen arrests, and extradited two hundred suspects to face a live trial on Channel 5 in a programme tentatively called The Big Madeleine McCann Row, hosted by Jasmine Waltz, Jim Davidson and the whole cast of Home and Away.”
“It’s amazing,” said one reader. “I thought that there was no way, this long after the first story, that they would find within themselves the endurance and the courage to keep printing bollocks stories like this to sell papers. But they have.”

Is it Ian Hislop that owns Private eye ???

He edits it, Panda. Subscribers have been writing in saying ??? 'Where's the beef', but he knows that if he puts one foot wrong libel-wise he will be banged up, and the magazine will likely close. Mr Justice Tugendhat has spoken! (Hislop has had too many run ins with the libel laws.) He must dream of Carter Ruck nightly. I am going to write in to them in appreciation. Yeah. That will do a lot of good, I know!
