I can see why their food shops are not doing very well. There are three of them in this area and none is ever very busy. The Co-op once had a couple of unique selling points: a dividend for members; the biggest retailer of Fairtrade products. Nowadays, most big supermarkets offer "loyalty cards," and most offer a wide range of Fairtrade products. Locally at any rate the Co-op is more expensive and doesn't have the same extensive ranges of goods the others offer. Gone are the days when people loyally shopped at the Co-op for their "divi," as members.

I remember arranging a very large building contract when the CWS had a contracting firm in Plymouth. At the end of the job they sent us £13000 worth of stamps !
The girls in the accounts dept had to stick them all in books.

I kid you not they where running out of lick towards the end !
