I'm certain they do have ambitions in that direction badboy. After all a global Caliphate is the goal. For the moment at least any such ambition remains a pipe dream. China certainly isn't going to roll over for them no matter what is happening in Xingjiang province. Militarily they need to consolidate what they have, assuming we let them that is and you know my views on that.

A bare fortnight after their so called leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi declared his Caliphate in existence. I understood the al Nusra brigade declared that no they were the real Caliphate. That seems to have gone strangely quiet since then.

It'll have to be some fence to keep those cutthroats and rapists out. They have captured some serious weaponry including main battle tanks from the Iraqis in the early days. and they must be in use by now.

IS must also realise that warts and all Saudi Arabia is a key ally of the US and the west in general. They are also the main oil supplier. There is absolutely no possible way they could attack the Saudis without attacking the US and us into the bargain. The Saudis are also well supplied with serious weaponry and US and British (advisors) to make sure it works

They have several projects. Peace Sun Peace Hawk Peace Bell Peace Sentinel Peace Shield and possibly one or two more. They are the fighter aircraft The airborne AWACS The Missile programme including patriot (Iron Dome) missiles. Doubtless they have more, and more modern equipment since my day.

Even given complete ineptitude on the part of the Saudi military they would be a hard nut to crack and cause the west to declare full scale war on them. I don't think they could cope with that. At least not yet.

It certainly sounds as if they are extremely worried about IS/ISIL. Such an undertaking will occupy some time and certainly a large chunk of cash. That won't worry them of course they're rolling in it.

I believe they have the time to do it since I can't see al Baghdadi or whatever he's calling himself this week, virtually committing suicide by taking on the US. and any other country affected by any disruption in Saudi oil supplies. Even if everything goes as he plans it that would still be a few years off. It have to happen eventually if he wishes to establish his global Caliphate but not yet. Then of course he needs to figure out some way to neutralise the Chinese and the Russians as well. not to mention N. Korea.

Now don't beat about the bush come out and say what you mean. apart from that yes I can understand her feelings on this. yet these people claim to be instituting the real Islam. It is their claim that they are the ones in the right and only they have interpreted the Qu'ran properly.

Having said that it's mentioned in the Qu'ran several times that a girl/woman has one inalienable right. She cannot be forced into a marriage she doesn't want. That apart from the constant ongoing scam of betrothing girls of Pakistani descent to someone in Pakistan having absolutely no basis in their own lexicon it applies equally that this woman should never have been put in such a position. That she was prepared to die rather than submit speaks volumes.

It's exactly the same with these girls kidnapped in Nigeria which the media seems to have forgotten. It is against their own laws. It doesn't so much matter who financed him as can they identify him with a sufficient degree of accuracy as to warrant detaining if he ever comes back. can they then keep sufficient of a watch on his movements so as to know when/if he comes back. he will be on a false passport almost certainly.

Then by all means trace the suspects who have financed him and if a trial finds them guilty throw away the rule book and lock them up at her majesty's pleasure.

This seems to be the inherent problem. One day IS/ISIS/ISIL take over a dam/town/air base or whatever and a few days later are forced back by Iraqi/Peshmerga/air strikes. Yet they remain a serious threat not only to peace and stability in that region but keep threatening the same in the wider world.

Other terror organisations, al Nusra, Boko Haram, al Shabaab, al Queda, etc etc are also continuing to plot the killing of innocents in pursuit of their Islamic paradise. The constant reports of women being taken for sex is in itself a condemnation of what they are claiming they want; a global Caliphate. they are nothing more than a bunch of sadistic killers, many having paedophile tendencies. Unfortunately their leader in his own way seems to be reasonably astute. He isn't another Hitler and certainly not in the same class as Napoleon but he has had more success than other terror groups. I believe it will take more than air strikes to seriously degrade them.

The Mahdi no less. The guided one who will rule through genuine Islam. So reading between the lines on that one. They are not practicing perfect Islam, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi al Qurayshi or whatever he calls himself this week will institute it. They cannot even agree as to how long he will rule for. Some say as little as 3 years He will have Jesus in tow as well; as a lesser prophet.

Yes, that makes sense. Saudi Arabia, is another perfect example of the relatively small minority lording it over the vast majority. In this case when the House of Saud in 1933 succeeded to the throne so to speak, the old King Abdul Aziz al Saud lost no time in welding together all the more troublesome tribes who may have opposed him into a National Guard. They now get the absolute best of everything and are in effect the bodyguards. When I was there most Saudis were literally told what to think, and some were beginning to wake up to that but helpless because of the National Guard.

The House of Saud have multiplied enormously since then and all the numerous Princes are either directly in government itself or at the least in some highly lucrative position involving no work of any kind and fabulous amounts of money. They are not going to give any of that up willingly so naturally they oppose IS. At least in coalition. They are secure anyway with their oil reserves and our dependence on it there is no possibly way the west and especially the US can allow anything to happen to the Kingdom.

I'm not sure how much faith to put into the poll because as you know it isn't a democracy in any way, but I can well imagine that people are starting to hanker after the House of Saud's "beer and pickles and that". Unless we take some decisive action against IS the way Cameron keeps saying he's looking at, when all he seems to be doing is wringing his hands, there may very well be clashes between them and the Saudis

Neither would surprise me. Cyber attacks are already a common occurrence. We've heard through the years of people hacking into supposedly secure government data, to China maintaining a group with no other job but attempting to get information from military installations. I have no doubt that the USA, Israel, Russia N. Korea and probably even ourselves maintain similar organisations. So that Is nothing knew in itself with the exception that IS are arrogating to themselves the status of a country.

Why exactly they would want to assassinate the Pope specifically I don't know. Of course he is outspoken against not only them but all other terror organisations but so are all the other religious leaders. Why not the Dalai Llama, or the leader of the Greek orthodox church? Any would do from their point of view. However in spite of the uniforms designed by Michelangelo on a very bad day. The Swiss Guard are actually one of the most efficient forces in the world so I don't think he'll be losing any sleep on that score.

Yes I understand that, I have been speaking out against these people for years. Of course it would be a great feather in their caps as they see it, if they did manage to kill the Pope. I'm just mildly surprised that they have actually named him as a prime target. First of all that will put the Swiss guard on even higher alert than I'm sure they already are. Given that they are one of the most efficient security forces on earth such a warning would make assassinating him extremely difficult. I would have thought there would be targets which are just as important as Pope Francis as heads of their respective churches and much easier to kill.

Other than that I agree with you completely. They have only two things on their minds. killing, preferably in the most barbaric ways possible, and unbridled sex. How they can reconcile either of these, let alone both with the establishment of what they say is the true religion with the real God who is merciful benevolent, and forgiving is absolutely beyond any rational and normal thought.

What then if by some miracle they got their global caliphate? They can't agree with each other now, and they only have one answer to everything. That answer coming out of a gun barrel. What a prospect!! The Antichrist is coming they say? They don't need one.
