'Fruit of the Earth' aloe vera gel is very soothing after you've been bitten.

Use insect repellant or one of those bracelets which have an inbuilt deterrent. Absolutely bitten to distraction by mozzies this year....never known anything like it!

you have my sympathy.

p.s. some say Avon 'skin so soft'......think thats what it's called is good o ward them off but no idea how girly it smells.... Covered in Bites.... 294124

They even sell SSS in our local Tiso with the rucksacks and tents, no need to even get an Avon lady, it's so effective for midges.
The best thing I ever got for midges was a big roll on, I forget the name of it now, but it came from the Poundland and it's the best thing I ever got for rashes, allergies and bites! I'll try and remember what it was called because it was really effective and only £1.

Thanks Iris, if you can remember the name that would be handy. We bought 2 of those electric zappers; very efficient. Sent OH out for another and they had sold out (Auchan supermarket) they had 40 on the shelf that morning!

Absolutely desperate here, apparently mild winter , wet spring etc. Have drained water feature as per government advice and made sure no little pockets of water are around after rain in unused plant pots/trays.

Will def. get SSS next year, daughter has a neighbour who does Avon or I can buy on-line. Also a sheet of tumble drier fabric i.e. Bounce works well if rubbed over arms/legs...trouble is I keep forgetting to do it :-(

I bought some spray on repellant from boots and the little buggers love it !

I am going to have to mow the lawn tomorrow in a boiler suit with my socks tucked in.

I'll try some of that sss stuff if i can see it on line.  Covered in Bites.... 25346

Yes that's the right stuff Lioned, and £7 for two bottles sounds about right.
The stuff from Poundland is called X-pel Tropical Formula Bite and Sting Relief, it comes in a white roll on bottle with a blue cap. There is a website address on the back, www.xpelmosquito.co.uk and it's the best stuff for bites/allergies I've ever found.
