How would EU sanctions on Russia affect Europe

Talk is cheap and very few European Countries would agree to sanctions because Russia supplies their Gas. Also, take a look at how much Britain earns by selling Arms to Russia !!!

Your energy bills would probably triple overnight. :(

I think Britain is quite safe because they buy Oil , I think from America . Germany is the largest economy to rely on Russian Oil , but by the same token , if all the EU Countries stopped buying Oil from Gazprom Russia would be bankrupt overnight. Russia keeps threatening Ukraine to cut off their Oil supply until their £1 million bill is paid, but most of the Oil pipelines run though Ukraine which they could demand be removed   

France has used Nuclear Energy for many years without an accident and I think Britain should rethink on this fracking process and use NE having learned a big lesson from Russia and Japan . Either that or open up the coal mines again when smokeless fuel can be used.

It is looking increasingly likely that the sanctions against Russia will be negligible, too many vested interests. France is building two Warships for Russia, Germany has a thriving export with Russia, even the Netherlands profits from sales to Russia.The only alternative is in the Banking Sector .

One thing Cameron has done which is quite distasteful is to re-open the case of the Russian who was poisoned in London 7 yrs ago., there was an inquiry of sorts but everyone will see it as a cheap trick hoping to embarass Putin .

Such hypocracy.........of the 185 Firms in Britain who hold a Licence to sell Arms, only 35 have agreed to stop sending to those Countries presently n turmoil. Russia is our biggest buyer.
