I'm concerned something undesirable will occur.

From Yvonne Martin Statement

She declares that one of her main aims when she wrote the anonymous letter was for the British police to check the paedophile or child abusers registers and whether David Payne was on that list.

which it appears they did, to the satisfaction of the portuguese.

But not Mr Amaral.....he's still convinced something went on .

It was said the British police were convinced Payne is not a Paedophile and informed the pj.

Would YOU believe them?

Do we know what the PJ were actually told, by UK police ? Is there a report in the files?

I read somewhere that the british police investigated Payne and found nothing untoward about him.

Do I believe it...nope .

A child goes missing and what do you do.....ring up child abuse line.....off course you do!

He was either ringing up because he was scared or he was ringing up to report someone and he chickened out

After all the things that have been coming out in the press recently....no! But, they were all public figures/big names/tv personalities.....but the McCanns and Paynes were unknown nothings....so why protect them?

We keep coming back to this, don't we?

We can only come up with personal theories as to why they are being protected.

Quite so and unless there is eventually a court case which shows the real truth then we are never going to know or be proved right or wrong.

Statements saying it must be this, that or the other are pointless....all we have are our personal theories.

I suspect whatever happens a lot of people will never change their views.

of course. some people see things that aren't there and have way too much free time to look for them. then there are those that swallow the theories of the 'self appointed expert' bloggers all of whom are really best ignored as they thrive on the attention.

then there are those who consider this an accident covered up by the central players who then created a media dust storm that sent investigative officials off in any direction other that the one they should have been following and when they eventually returned to that path once the storm settled, all the evidence left they could find was indicative only and therefore insufficient to prove a case. a general lack of cooperation from those central players left the investigation with nowhere to go and with nothing more than a good idea of what likely happened.

I certainly know who I believe - Goncalo Amaral - who had to be removed from the case because he had a fair idea of what happened and was doing his job like he should have been doing, doing a job so well it seems that not everyone was happy, including Gordon Brown!

You're right. They all were/are public figures, big names, TV personalities etc. So, perhaps it's not the McCann's who are actually being protected here...

Yes, maybe and, if so, then it's even more likely the truth won't come out.

I wonder...going with that theory....did none of the staff at the resort see this person or have they been told to keep quiet too!

Any such person might have been 'important' without being recognisably well known - minor Lord, high ranking civil servant or military person or something of that ilk.

Yep, maybe. Immigration/airline records should show who arrived from the UK around that time.
