The 'whiners'

When it came to further investigation the two whiners denied they were under suspicion. As we know now they were lying and the media said so - the Portuguese media so, of course,  they had to be wrong. Most disgracefully of all the words of the two liars that the police had offered them the famous deal were accepted, again without the slightest evidence. Two state institutions in an EU country stated formally that no such deals were ever made, that they were illegal. Members of one, the PJ, stated that the McCanns' lawyer had approached them on behalf of his clients asking what the likely sentence might be if they were found guilty of concealing the child's corpse. Ignored. No, the word of two British liars was much more significant and was accepted. Nobody in the UK, the Portuguese noted, ever even asked the pair about their claims.

Sadly kitti, this fact is now long forgotten by many and is in all probability, erased from most sources on the net.

I have to wonder if the people who donated to the "fighting fund" nine years ago realized that innocent people traditionally don't need lawyers.

a good point, interested.... In the case of the 'big money' donors, maybe these multi-millionaires of celebrity status were using the 'fighting fund' as a tax dodge? Who knows what their true agenda was. But the £millions that poured in from the little people .... the insignificant masses (school children and pensioners) would undoubtedly be given in good faith, believing every utterance that came from Camp McCann.

After all they were both doctors......... And doctors only ever do good... Don't they....
