I suspect the only sadness it is tinged with is the fact that donations are drying or have dried up and they have to think of new ways to fleece the public.

Sad too that the twins' lives have been overshadowed by their sister's and their parents' 'celebrity' status. I wish the twins as happy a life as they can muster, but I'm afraid they will always be known as having been left alone with Madeleine while their parents went out to spend their evening with friends. Surely by this age they have begun to question "how could you do that?" and all the circumstances surrounding their sister's "disappearance".
