State police unit arrests Frostburg woman on child pornography charges
June 29, 2010
Members of the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit arrested a Frostburg woman Tuesday in connection with alleged possession and distribution of child pornography.
Toni M. Cozino, 24, of the 100 block of East Mechanic Street, was charged with one count of distributing child pornography and three counts of possessing child pornography.
Cozino remained jailed Tuesday afternoon on $25,000 bond, pending bail review Wednesday in district court.
If convicted, Cozino could be sentenced to up to 16 years in prison and/or $28,000 in fines.
Earlier this month, a trooper assigned to the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force identified a computer that was offering pornographic videos of children for others to download on the Internet. Troopers were able to trace the computer back to Cozino.
Investigators served a search warrant at Cozino’s residence Tuesday. The search yielded computers and multiple data storage devices. A preliminary analysis of the seized computers led to the discovery of child pornography. A complete forensic examination of the computers will be conducted, which could lead to additional charges.
The task force is comprised of police agencies from around the state. Its primary mission is to protect children from computer-facilitated sexual exploitation. The group works cooperatively with law enforcement agencies and prosecutors to provide resources to combat these crimes.
The task force also provides community awareness campaigns to help prevent the spread of these crimes through education.

Manitowoc Co. woman charged in child porn case
Monday, 28 Jun 2010
A Manitowoc County woman appeared in court Monday on a dozen charges of child sexploitation and sexual assault.
She allegedly touched the children - ages 2, 5 and 7 - and took pictures of them which she then shared to be sold.
FOX 11 is not identifying the woman because doing so would identify the minor victims.
According to court documents, the woman agreed to send pornographic images of children to a man she knew and he was going to sell them on the internet.
The man who was going to sell them told police he received about 1,000 pictures from the woman during a two month period.
The woman admitted to police she had taken pornographic pictures of her children with her cell phone and sent them to the man.
The woman is not in jail, she posted her $1,000 bond.
She is not to have contact with the man, or any children, unless at work where she is supervised.
The woman is awaiting appointment of a public defender. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 1.
Neither the district attorney nor the Manitowoc Sheriff's department was available for comment today.
FOX 11’s Becky DeVries is covering the story and will have more on FOX 11 News at Nine.

Mother viewed child porn videos out of 'morbid curiosity'
Tuesday, July 13, 2010
MOTHER-OF-ONE Michelle Gomm downloaded indecent movies of children and of adults having sex with dogs.
The 25-year-old admitted making four indecent movies of children, possessing four indecent movies of children and possessing 10 extreme pornographic movies.
She was yesterday given a suspended prison sentence at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Prosecutor Neil Ahuja said police executed a search warrant at Gomm's home in Campbell Road, Stoke, at 7.50am on Wednesday, March 17. She admitted to officers that she had been looking at porn and "weird stuff like animal sex".
The four indecent movies of children were all level four – level five being the most serious.
The movies included a girl having full sex with an adult male and an adult female having sex with two boys aged about 12.
Mr Ahuja said: "There were 10 movies of extreme pornographic nature. These included sexual intercourse between an adult male and adult females with dogs."
Gomm said she became curious about what sort of pornography was available. She said she used search words including incest and bestiality.
She said she was ashamed of her actions.
Paul Cliff, mitigating, said it was an unusual case.
He said Gomm became isolated after the birth of her child. "She was lonely and used the internet as a point of contact with the outside world. She developed a morbid curiosity," said Mr Cliff.
"I am told this is not motivated by a sexual desire.
"She is ashamed and mortified and is deeply embarrassed. She has caused shame for her family."
Mr Cliff added that Gomm has paid a heavy price as she can now only have supervised contact with her son.
Judge Paul Glenn said it beggars belief that a mother of a young child would offend in this way.
He accepted Gomm was not motivated by sexual desire.
"I can't see how anyone can find it a sexual motivation," said Judge Glenn.
He said if he sent Gomm to prison she would be released in weeks which he believed would be a pointless exercise.
Instead he sentenced her to four months in prison, suspended for two years, with two years' supervision and 100 hours unpaid work.
Gomm will be on the sex offenders' register for five years and is likely to be barred from a number of activities involving children.
Judge Glenn told Gomm: "The material is despicable, it is stomach turning.
"I can't believe that any mother of a four-year-old child would start to look at that sort of filth.
"The people on these movies would not have been willing participants, they were being abused.
"And people like you who watch this sort of stuff encourage the people who perpetrate this sort of abuse."

Woman in Brazil arrested for child molestation in Sacramento child porn probe
July 22, 2010
Karlla Cristina Do Nascimento, 23
Authorities have arrested and indicted a woman in Brazil in connection with a Sacramento man busted two months ago on suspicion of soliciting for a child sent from Brazil for sex.
Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Force detectives also think there may be a local victim of molestation involving suspect Benjamin Dee Kendrick they have yet to identify, said Sacramento County sheriff's Sgt. Tim Curran.
The FBI and authorities in Brazil arrested Karlla Cristina Do Nascimento, 23, for child molestation, Curran said. She is suspected in an ongoing online relationship in which Kendrick and an associate in Brazil had conversations about sending the woman's young daughter to Kendrick for sexual purposes. Addendum: (Nascinmento is being charged with molesting two children in Brazil, and police say she lied about having a daughter.)
Kendrick was captured May 17 in Davis after a short police pursuit and nationwide alert. He was taken into custody on a $1,000,000 arrest warrant and on suspicion of solicitation to commit a felony and possession of obscene matter depicting sexual conduct of a person under age 18.
Curran said task force detectives had recovered more than 100 images and videos of child porn from Kendrick's home computer during a warranted search.
Detectives think there may be an earlier victim of child molest based on earlier conversations between the two suspects, Curran said.
Investigators believe the abuse occurred between 2005 and January 2009; the child was around 9 years old at the time of the molestation; the victim's parents knew Kendrick and the child had spent time at Kendrick's house.
Curran said investigators have contacted residents of neighborhoods where Kendrick lived but had not identified a victim.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of this victim was urged to call the hi-tech crimes task force at (916) 874-3002.

Abuse occurs a lot in churches. People, unfortunately, trust elders, ministers, etc. of a church and don't believe what their children tell them and that's the problem. Stupid parents!! Abuse can go on for years and there is a case in NZ where a member of a church, so called, had been at it for years and years and has only just been brought to justice. Being an old man now he most probably will get a smack on the wrist. So, the point is, it is everywhere and in all walks of life. The Mcs and Co. are no different to anyone else.

Whilst it is accepted amongst law enforcement that child pornography is everywhere and in all walks of life they are still divided on the numbers of women involved it seems:-
07/20/2010 - The operation also netted a female suspect suspected of possession of child pornography.
Nunes said that law enforcement is divided about the gender breakdown of child pornography suspects: some saying that women are rare and others estimating that women make up a larger percentage of the trade in such images.
Woman jailed for possession of child pornography
Saturday, July 24, 2010
CHARLESTON, South Carolina - A woman who became involved in a sexual relationship with a teenage boy and gave birth to their baby was sentenced to four years in prison Friday for possessing child pornography.
Jessica L. Bradley, 20, formerly of the Hanahan area, pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, which is the state's law dealing with pornographic material and minors.
The pornographic images were not of the boy, who was about 15 when the sexual relationship started last year. She was 19.
Circuit Judge Roger Young sentenced Bradley to 10 years in prison, suspended to four years behind bars followed by five years of probation. The judge said he was troubled by her extensive involvement in pornography and apparent lack of remorse. He did note that she had been sexually abused as a youth.
Bradley, now 20, said little in court, other than to acknowledge the judge's questions. She has been in the Charleston County Detention Center for more than a year.
Jail time is warranted in the case, Young said during her guilty plea in the Charleston County Judicial Center, "to help you recognize the wrong of what you were doing."
Ninth Circuit Assistant Solicitor Debbie Herring-Lash, who prosecutes child sex crimes, said it is difficult to track how often incidents of women getting involved with teenagers occurs locally, largely because boys are much less likely to report the conduct.
Bradley was described as a neighborhood friend of the boy's family. According to courtroom statements, she sneaked the boy into her residence, where she exposed him to a variety of sexual materials, including videos.
The relationship began in the spring of 2009. Authorities later seized computers containing pornographic images.
In court Friday, the teenage victim told Young he is trying to overcome lingering emotional problems from his association with Bradley, including withdrawal and anguish.
"She actually made me withdraw from my friends," he said.
The case was investigated across several jurisdictions, including the North Charleston and Hanahan police departments, and the state attorney general's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Assistant Attorney General Priscilla Jones said the office made a legal decision not to pursue the case beyond Friday's five-count guilty plea.
Separately, the teen also is trying to gain custody of his 13-month-old daughter. She is in foster care through the Department of Social Services, his family said.
When Bradley is released from prison she will have to register as a sexual offender. Her prison sentence begins immediately.
