Met bill for Maddy soars to £2million, 01 February 2012

Met bill for Maddy soars to £2million Evening Standard

Still missing: Madeleine McCann
Justin Davenport, Crime Editor
1 Feb 2012

The cost of the Met's review of the Madeleine McCann investigation is set to reach £2 million less than a year after it was launched, the Evening Standard reveals today.

The bill for 30 detectives, translation and travel expenses has soared since David Cameron called in Scotland Yard last May.

Detectives from the homicide squad were asked to examine the case of the missing three-year-old after the Prime Minister acted on the request of Madeleine's parents. A spokesman for Kate and Gerry McCann said: "They have always been very appreciative of the time and resources that the British police and Home Office have committed to the search for Madeleine and they are grateful that the review is ongoing."

Met detectives have made at least four trips to Portugal and Spain to meet police and private investigators who were engaged in the original investigation.

When the review was announced it sparked controversy over the use of public funds. Labour peer Lord Harris has said the case raises "very big questions", adding: "There is clearly an issue about the resources being used."

The cost is disclosed in a document to the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime. Sources say the Met has already sent the Home Office a bill for £800,000 but the figure is expected to reach £1.9 million by the end of the financial year next month.

The bill includes the costs of the detectives' salaries, translation and interpretation fees and travel expenses. Madeleine disappeared from her parents' holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on the Algarve in Portugal on May 3 2007.

She vanished days before her fourth birthday as her parents dined with friends yards away. Since then there have been hundreds of "sightings" of Madeleine around the world but none confirmed.

The official police inquiry into her disappearance was shelved in July 2008 but private detectives employed by the McCanns continued the search.

Scotland Yard says the trips to Portugal, and now Spain, are part of "laying the groundwork" for future co-operation between the police forces.

Officers are examining all the evidence connected to the case, including material gathered by private investigators.

Detectives have spent months reading a huge file of case material that had to be translated from Portuguese to English at a considerable cost. In December detectives met Spanish colleagues in Barcelona to check on reports that the toddler had been abducted and smuggled across the border.

Private investigators in Spain also handed the Met police team 30 boxes of evidence which they claimed contained up to eight "important new leads".

However, sources say the inquiry could take years to complete and they have played down hopes of a major breakthrough in the review so far.

The cost of the inquiry compares with the £80 million spent on the policing operations to tackle and investigate the summer riots.

Instead of carefully worded lines of twisted facts from the past, why don't these spineless papers report the truth that the money the mccanns are stealing from the public is being spent to suppress the countries freedom of speech. The only so called 'search' is at the expense of public taxes & is a public PR exercise. This after nearly 5 years of the whole wide world & their dog searching for the most famous 3 year old child on the planet that has produced absolutely nothing!

When the detective heading the 'review' or inquiry (or is it an investigation?) comes out with a comment like this, that's when I'll start to believe that the whole thing is a sham. But, since it's the Evening Standard quoting those ubiquitous sources again, think I'll keep an open mind.

Nuff said. Putting together an article like this is not very difficult - just think up a load of things and quote 'sources' and 'spokesman' etc. to 'substantiate it'.

......but private detectives employed by the McCanns continued the search.

Its all past tense not presently. Plus if this reporter did their research properly they would see that there is nothing in the Foundation accounts to show any money spent on employing any private investigators

Private investigators in Spain also handed the Met police team 30 boxes of evidence which they claimed contained up to eight "important new leads".

Who are these private investigators? twisted to sound like present day investigators when the truth is they are Meteo 3 from about 3 years ago

As you say "just think up a load of things and quote 'sources' and 'spokesman' etc. to 'substantiate it'" its exactly what it is. I could rip this comic book story to shreds!

This is absolutely appalling! How can this money be justified? I am speechless. This case just p**** me off. How can the people involved just sit back and allow this disgusting charade to continue.

The PJ, the holidaymakers, the Portuguese people searched for Maddie and gave up their time whilst the parents and friends couldn't be bothered because it was too dark.

The more I read the more I despair. The rogatories and all the inconsistencies in the stories. And still they're not brought to account. If SY haven't interviewed the doctors and the tapas 7 then they've wasted £2m. Anybody with half a brain can see that something doesn't add up and still they are allowed to dictate and run everything. The Leveson farce included - this man is a judge and he appears to be besotted with this couple imo.

FGS let Pat Brown, Tony Bennett and Dr Amaral have success in their mission to find the truth. Two bloody million quid. What on - they're having a larf - if they read here, Jill Havern's site and MCF they could've saved a fortune.

Rant to continue - in my head!!

Well driven up the road to Spain? No border control since Portugal joined the EU about 20 years ago!! Hmmm that doesn't have the same ring to it somehow does it?
I drove a kid up the road, or I left my three kids while her parents went on the piss, which seems the most scarey statement?

Metodo 3
Their 'About us' page is quite interesting... nowhere does it mention their expertise in searching for 'Missing Children'.
However, one of their mottos and objectives is stated;- To invest all our efforts and dreams on the creation and development of a European detectives association to fight against fraud. I could suggest one particular area where these efforts and dreams could be put to some good use.....

www.metodo3.es/engl/sn_empresa.htm

Quote
MÉTODO 3 has created an ANTI-CRISIS department, whose principal services are:

1. Location of Individuals against whom Proceedings have been Instituted.
2. Preliminary Legal Reports on Individuals and/or Legal Entities.
3. Judicial Reports.
4. Business Transfer Reports.
5. Reports on the Search for Assets in Tax Havens.

INVESTIGATION AGENCYESP | CATAbout us The Company was founded in Barcelona in 1985 by Marita Fernández Lado, with the aim of breaking away from the structures, approaches and methods of operation which had eroded trust in detectives. At that time, the intention was for to fulfil a social need for a genuine private investigation company, rather than simply a detective agency.

Today, more than twenty years since we entered the Spanish market, we can point to more than 18.000 reports issued in the course of our history and some 1.200 investigations conducted every year over the last few years, which establishes us as the number one detective company in Spain.

In this new millennium, we are consolidated and positioned as a global services company for the Spanish national market. Our motto and objective is to invest all our efforts and dreams on the creation and development of a European detectives association to fight against fraud.

Our philosophy is going where nobody has ever been; to see what remains hidden for other people; to sum up, to reach the truth. Our vast expertise in the investigation sector has permitted us to create a methodology of our own, effective and clear for both parts: our detectives and our clients.

We are totally responsible of our reports, and we are ready to be defended all the proofs in front of whoever it is needed.

1. The client contacts us to explain his/her problem, we start a group of processes starting by looking for all the possible information, even those that apparently do not seem to be relevant.

2. The corresponding department checks the records and studies deeply all the documents received.

3. The dossier passes to the services directive where, seeing all of the documents, a plan is conceived, with all of the human and material resources needed.

4. Once chosen the detectives, which always work in couple, and the technical and transportation resources, the development of the service is discussed.

5. The detectives in charge of the case pick up all the required proofs and send to the central their work reports. Also, they pay constant attention to possible modifications to achieve the object of investigation.

6. When all the material arrives to the agency, the Services Boss meets with the detectives to decide how will the case continue or end. Then, all the proofs and work reports are sent to the editorial department, formed by copywriters and lawyers.

7. Once the report is written, two copies are given to the client and to the lawyer, and also a tape with all the audiovisual material filmed during the investigation, to the disposition of the judge.

Jay2001 your rant is absolutely spot on! I could not agree more than with every word and every sentence you have said. I share the same totally. Met bill for Maddy soars to £2million, 01 February 2012 307691 so well said

Lets not forget all the staff at OC who all lost their jobs for no fault of their own as a result of the mccanns scam. They only wanted to do a days honest work for honest pay, their community has been destroyed. They are the ones who searched while kate stayed in the apartment and said absolutely nothing to the police while gerry was phoning everyone in sight in the UK blaming the Portuguese police (then contradicted herself in the bewk stating she searched through hills and jumped hedges, even though in TV interviews says she never searched!)...The police hadn't had time to begin anything at this stage and were not phoned till an hour later and then were subjected to a bizarre mccann on their knees chanting twice (How do you start an investigation seeing this weird act in front of you)....but the British Diplomat already knew though! and Sky News, even the Telegraph

As for Metodo 3, exactly malena stool...Thank you for posting this info about them up, this needs to be shown for what in reality they are. Why on earth employ a PI company that has zero expertise in searching for 'Missing Children'!!!!!! Then to have wimp media reporters twist the reality to the mccanns favour to the unsuspecting public who are unaware what we know...where are these reporters backbone I ask???? Do they go to sleep at nights feeling good in themselves I ask? There is a director on the Madeleine Foundation that specialises in company fraud and set one up especially for this purpose (though not going too well at the moment!)....funny that

When I think of all the brave men and women out in the dessert fighting and giving their young lives in the name of democracy and freedom of speech it makes me sick to the core that in reality "this" is what their wonderful efforts are protecting. We need to do our bit in the luxury of the UK to fight these animals and I will be fighting with every bone in my body to the bitter end no matter what. The day this scam is exposed will be one of the most special days in this countries history and one which all decent honest people will be proud of. Amazingly after the McCann's bit the hand that feeds them (at Leveson) the media are not as sympathetic as normal regarding the cost of this review by "Scotland Yard’s homicide squad ".

"The cost is disclosed in a document to the London Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime.

Sources say the Met has already sent the Home Office a bill for £800,000 but the figure is expected to reach £1.9million by the end of the financial year next month.

By comparison, the first three months of the Leveson inquiry into press standards has cost £855,300, figures show.

Operation Weeting, the Metropolitan police investigation into phone hacking, has so far cost just over £1.8m, or £200,000 a month."

In fact the rest of the article is worth a read. No use of the word "abduction" anywhere.

On analysing yesterdays report in different papers & media outlets, you see very clearly this is not any reporters free and unbiased article. This information for this report has been given to every media outlet and they have been "told" what to print by whoever from the mccann team. The wording for the most part is absolutely identical (even with commas and quotation marks, spacing etc) and some reporters have merely re ordered their report and added the odd new word here & there or simply omitted lines. Below is an example, the black is the Evening Standard report, the red is the Mirror report ( 2 completely different newspapers)...who said the government don't control the press and we have freedom of speech in this country!!!

The cost of the Met's review of the Madeleine McCann investigation is set to reach £2 million less than a year after it was launched, the Evening Standard reveals today.

A spokesman for Kate and Gerry McCann said: “They have always been very appreciative of the time and resources that the British police and Home Office have committed to the search for Madeleine and they are grateful that the review is ongoing.”

The bill for 30 detectives, translation and expenses comes after David Cameron called in Scotland Yard last May. Madeleine disappeared from her parents’ holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on the Algarve in Portugal on May 3, 2007.

I will never understand, WHY, someone from the government was sent to be the mccanns spokesperson.

To me that means one thing.....he was sent to NOT help the mccanns but to help cover up someone from the government, why else send him to speak for two non Important doctors and it also says that GM has something BIG on someone HIGH UP.

What percentage of that 2million pounds was spent on TRANSLATING the TAPAS 7 ENGLISH STATEMENTS to LP to make any SENSE at all from THEM (statements)???
I know some of the review team may be deemed slow in highlighting the incredible contradictions and descrepancies in the ENGLISH recorded/written statements but even they must have been READ by NOW!
HOW MUCH DID IT COST TO TRANSLATE THEM?
