Chronic gastritis and hiatus hernia
Has anyone here any experience of either of these 2 conditions?

Thanks for the reply.
Do you know if she experiences a lot of pain?
I have both conditions and would like to know which of the two is more likely to be causing my pain.

You're very welcome.
I don't think her hernia causes her pain. I know it causes her heartburn and discomfort due to the reflux of gastric acid but not pain, as far as I know, Mumbles. She has some medication for the heartburn, which she takes like twice a week or whenever she has symptoms.
ETA: My dad has been diagnosed in the past with a mild gastritis and the only symptom he had was intermittent stomach pain.
Re: Chronic gastritis and hiatus hernia
Hi Mumbles, recently I was prescribed some medication that gave me severe gastric problems. In fact it caused acid reflux so bad that at times it felt like I could not breath properly and it felt like I was not getting enough oxygen. Once they sorted out the medication the breathing problem subsided, not gone completely but is a lot better than it was. The old quack said it could take 2-3 months for the stomach to settle back down.mumbles wrote:Claudia79 wrote:mumbles wrote:Has anyone here any experience of either of these 2 conditions?

Re: Chronic gastritis and hiatus hernia
Thanks for both replies.
Hmm... it must be the chronic gastritis that causes all my pain in that case - as I know my hiatus hernia is not very large. (yet!)
Last month I had a gastroscopy which confirmed both conditions - and they also told me that my stomach was still very inflamed - even though I'd been on medication (Omeprazol) for almost 4 months. In fact, within 1hr of the gastroscopy, I noticed a cluster of mouth ulcers (on my lower lip) which I'm guessing occurred as the tube was pulled out of my mouth. (unless I was gurgling away whilst they were doing the procedure, of course!)
I must have one helluva lot of acid in there!
Oddly enough though - I very rarely suffer from acid reflux - unless I've eaten an exceptionally hot curry or chili. ( a rare treat)
Saw my doc a few days ago and he changed my medication to Nexium as I was still in pain - and now the pain's getting more frequent and severe! Grrrr!
To make things even worse (for me, not my gut) - I am planning on giving up smoking tomorrow!
HELP!!!
