I've always thought that these awards are not worth a great deal - like all awards and honours and the rest of the junk that various sections of the establishment use to pat each other on the back with, very much an abuse of power - always have been and always will be.

Just like buying a silver or gold medal wine! Awards given by a fraternity who all benefit.

I notice the "charity" has become a "company".

What? No credit to the Masonic Trust for Boys & Girls who gave him a leg up? The same masonic charity that he's now a committee member of all these years later. That's not very humble of Mr Smethurst, surely his benefactors deserved a mention.

All I can say is I hope Smethurst is "humbled" very soon. His choice of FB friends (I have seen screenshots) & his support of the McCann couple make me hope he is where he deserves to be.
