Don't forget Gerry's grief either! He looks as if he's won the lottery - which in a way he had but he wasn't to know then how successful the fund would be. What does he look like when he's happy if this is his version of being sad?

I can watch Psycho, but only until the "shower scene" is about to be shown, then I turn off. The screeching music as Janet Lee is being stabbed, still scares the life out of me. I can't remember the name of the character that Janet played in the film, but after the film she was always known as Janet "Psycho" Lee.

The name of the character was Marion Crane.
Play Misty For Me is a film that scared the life out of me many moons ago. I definitely don't watch anything like that now.

I think she looks quite sad in the first set of pictures, unlike Gerry who looks overjoyed at the whole thing.

I used to have a link to the photograph of the McCanns and Kate's Uncle Brian, holding a large cheque, for a large amount of money. The three of them looked in that photo as if they had won the lottery. Hang on they had won a kind of lottery, well at least the McCanns had, because they were allowed to use the money to assist their finances.
Uncle Brian was a director of the fund and while he may not have received a salary, he would have received expenses from the fund. As we know from Clarence, the McCanns wider family can use the money to assist their finances, so maybe Uncle Brian is one of the wider family who is being "helped."

I'm not sure I can see the 'quite sad'.....but even so, most normal people would be totally bereft, barely able to function, let alone quite sad!

Re: a reminder of kates deep distress and suffering after maddie vanished
They did manage to get the look right a year later for an anniversary service.

It's a pity that the clip of them from a BBC interview on 2nd May 2008 has been whooshed from YouTube. One second they looked as they do in this photo in the Daily Mail, then when they thought they were off camera, it was back to winning the lottery mode.
P.S. I've found a still photo of the incident mentioned above which gives an idea of their jubilation, particularly Gerry's.

Perhaps sad is stretching it a bit - wistful, remorseful, perhaps more suitable, but there's something about her eyes in that second picture that don't signify joy, unlike Gerry's obvious delight. The one where they're coming out of court after winning their book ban is where she truly looks happy.

Hi Kathybelle, I think the picture you're referring to is the one where they're holding up the t-shirt with Madeleine's picture on it to promote the fund...totally tacky and in bad taste, and to all be grinning like cheshire cats was truly sickening.

I just find it sickening that they can all stand there grinning like that...Madeleine has just gone missing and all they want to do is promote a tacky T-shirt.

Re: a reminder of kates deep distress and suffering after maddie vanished
I presume that the photo with a large cheque is also a hoax but it's difficult to tell the difference between the McCanns' normal behaviour and wind-ups. Here's a reminder of an early interview with Eileen McCann and Brian Kennedy where the importance of money was evident even then.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ML-gTcKDKrM
Eileen's comment that Gerry's spirits had been lifted by the launch of the fund says it all! Also, Brian Kennedy said that the fund would be used mainly for legal fees.

As I mentioned before, it's hard to tell what's genuine McCann behaviour and what's a spoof. I like the signs at the back, particularly the one saying that unattended children will be sold to the circus.
