The Leonor trial could possibly bring a whole lot of rubbish to the surface, the most significant piece of information, I think, being that her lawyer has claimed that Metodo3 paid him to find dirt on Amaral to ruin his reputation. Let's hope that comes out at the trial because that could open up the whole can of worms.

And who paid Met3 to do this......all roads lead back to ?

Can you imagine the backlash when it comes out that money from the fund was paid to Met3 to sabotage the search for Madeleine

Faro: In question are the accusations of aggressions by Judiciary Police officers

The different versions that she presented about the alleged aggressions that she was a victim of at the headquarters of the Judiciary Police of Faro, took Leonor Cipriano yesterday to the Court of Faro. Joana's mother - who is doing a jail time of 16 years for the murder of her daughter - answers for false accusations.

Yesterday, Leonor, 42 years old, repeated what she had said in court, back in 2008, during the trial of the five inspectors of the Judiciary Police - including Gonçalo Amaral and Paulo Pereira Cristovão - for [alleged] aggressions during the questionings, at the time of Joana's death investigation, back in 2004.

Leonor repeated that, at the Judiciary Police of Faro headquarters, the officers beat her up "with punches and kicks", that they beat her "with a cardboard tube", that they placed "a blue plastic bag over her head" and that they hit her with a "phone book".

However, in the answers to the Public Ministry and to the Judge, Joana's mother [and convicted murderer] contradicted herself: she was unable to give the timing of the aggressions, she stated the tube was made of plastic and she affirmed that she had always been sitting down, when before she had stated that she had been forced to stay on her knees, on the top of ashtrays.

"This was an important moment in her life and it would be expected, even for the numerous times she has been asked the same questions, that she had kept it in her memory" argued the Public Ministry prosecutor, concluding that Leonor "insists on lying" and that she should be condemned to a jail sentence [for those lies].

The defence attorney* alleged that Leonor Cipriano "has difficulties in explaining herself", which, allied to a situation "in which the discernment wasn't the best", explains the contradictions.

The sentence was scheduled for the 14th of March.

In 2009, at the trial of the PJ officers, the court ruled as proven that there was an aggression however they were unable to identify the perpetrators.

@6 The court already stated as a fact that Leonor Cipriano lied, did you read the article above? That is why a certificate was extracted and a case against her was brought to a new trial. Secondly, Gonçalo Amaral wasn't convicted for perjury but for a false statement - it was not a wilful lie as perjury encompasses, i.e, he believed in what was reported to him by his colleagues - and now, since the whole of Leonor's statements are lies, then what did Gonçalo Amaral falsely stated?

Leonor Cipriano has given about 6 to 8 different and contradicting versions of what happened to Joana Cipriano.

Leonor Cipriano gave 3 to 4 different versions to different people about the beating.

Leonor Cipriano gave about 3 to 4 different versions about the PJ officers, in line ups she was never able to identify a single officer.

Leonor Cipriano lied about her own brother. More importantly about, her own daughter.

Leonor Cipriano was accused with factual evidence of murdering with the aid her brother, her own daughter Joana. Joana's body was horrifically dismembered, that much was proved.

Marcos Aragão Correia, Leonor's lawyer who played a pivotal role in the McCann case, admitted to lying in order to obtain a confession from Leonor's brother.

Leonor's own family don't want her back. What does this say to you?

Wasn't amaral given a 14 month suspended sentence for falsifying Police Statements? I thought this case was wrapped up when the Lawyer and a childrens organisation representative gave evidence ? Didn't Amaral have to pay their Legal Fees???

That was to do with the mad lawyer freedom off speech ....mr amaral lost the case and I bet Kate whispered....fuming tosser.....now we won't get our 1.2m....it's one case the Mccanns HOPED mr amaral would win!

Amaral was given a 14 month suspended sentence though for falsifying Police documents or a Report. I remember seeing a Photo of Leanor with two black eyes which Correio said were inflicted by the Police who said she fell down the stairs.
