Reminds me of that saying, "A fool and his money... etc." In this case a very unpleasant fool and as far as media freedom goes - a very dangerous one.

i m not a huge fan of Hugh Grant, but he is donating to Missing people dont forget, on this ocassion it isnt going to the McCs, so good for him.

Oh and if hes been taken in by the story, perhpas he should read the PJ files, and dont blame him for that thousands were initially its how they raised the public British and overseas raised so much money for the Limited Company.

I wonder if those doughnuts Fiona and Lorraine will support their dear friend too. I just hope that any money donated via Kate does actually reach the Missing People charity.

Okay, no problem then; otherwise it's easy to imagine how less than honest runners could pocket the money themselves.

What do those different sums mean? Why part is donation + Gift Aid. I don't get it?

if you a re a UK taxpayer, when you make a donation to charity, some of the tax that you have paid in proporition to the donation can be added by the taxman. so it shows as the donation and the Gift aid (the proportional amount from the Tax people that the donor paid in taxes). Not sure ive explained that well.

How generous of Hugh. But I noticed when BBC News was showing an interview with him earlier, he was at pains to say that Hacked Off wasn't about people like him but "real" victims "like the Dowlers". No other victims were mentioned in the interview I saw. So Gerry's angry face may be popping up all over the news, talking about Leveson and what Cameron should be doing, but it's the Dowlers, rather than the McCanns, that Grant chose to mention when citing the "real victims" Hacked Off was trying to defend. Rather forgetful of him, I thought.

Kate McCann's Plans For Missing People.How McCanns Friend Lady Catherine Meyer Turned Out To be A Fraudster !
As the accounts of the charity show, in 2010 income was £97,805 and expenditure, £80,491.
In 2009, the income was £28,445 and expenses £87,640 leading to a loss, even after taking into account unrealised investment gains, of over £50,000.
When we look at expenses we can see that over £49,586  of expenses in 2010 related to the salaries of Catherine Meyer (Lady Meyer) and her administrative assistant. 
The Daily Telegraph understands that nearly 70 percent of that money was related to the salary of Lady Meyer.
In 2009, expenses directly related to the salaries of Lady Meyer and her assistant was £63,877.
It is quite easy to see why the charity lost over £50,000 that year.
Donations to the charity seem to have done more to pay the Chanel-clad Lady Meyer her salary and expenses than they have done to assist abducted children...read more..
