The Judiciary Police has already taken steps to try to find Maddie's body, following the reopening of the case. The hypothesis that the British girl was murdered is one of the lines of investigation being followed by the inspectors. The thesis of homicide integrates the framework of a kidnapping for reasons connected to paedophilia.

The CM knows that the Judiciary Police has undertaken several steps in recent days to try to discover Maddie's body, who disappeared on the night of May 3, 2007 from her bedroom at the tourist resort of the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz, Lagos.

The inspectors in charge of the case have for that matter presented evidence supporting this hypothesis to the Public Ministry, who decided, last Thursday, to reopen the investigation.

Shortly after the disappearance of Madeleine, the PJ took steps to try to find the cadaver, but those proved fruitless. Inspectors received at the time several false leads about the possible location of the girl's corpse, who was at the time the crime, three years old.

The Judiciary Police also heard several witnesses and returned to the village of Praia da Luz. There, the inspectors took the opportunity to check the location of mobile phone masts.

oooh now this is hotting up. I am expecting to see a quote from the parents or a source close to them saying " we really appreciate all the efforts the PJ are undertaking to ensure no stone remains unturned".

I can't remember the poster's name but back a couple years ago just before I stopped posting there was a woman, a Portuguese one posting in English who was talking about this. She seemed to have a connection with or be part of the effort to pinpoint where a body would be left. I was just finding out that that is a branch of forensic study and the PJ had a whole line on that -how far from the car, how far from the place of death.

It's gruesome and terrible but they are right, if this was an abduction especially by a pedophile or for a sex crime the likely case that goes along with that is that she did not live long, only a few hours. I know some people keep the women captive but those are women not just turning 4 year olds.

I think the phones will definitely be important, I just hope they can use what they find. Everyone's freaking out about their privacy and the government having access to their records lately in the US because someone leaked that the NSA has access to our phone records. If they are only looking at who was there at the time near the OC for the three or so days up to May 3rd and the traffic between them that's not too intrusive but could yield a lot of evidence.

They can't see the content of the calls obviously so it's the fact of who was there, the patterns of traffic. You have some folks coming into town a few days before the kidnapping and leaving right after, many of those will be tourists who were there on holiday and can be ruled out - the resort supposedly wasn't that full because it wasn't really into the season yet.

They showed how they look at the cell phone records for patterns - people dialing out of the country, in the case of US phones, in case they are terrorists, people who have calls to people who are known involved in the movements of Al Quaeda etc. They do bubble charts and look for things that are anomalies.

I expect it will be similar - any of those lines belong to people tracked by Operation Grange or CEOPS or whatever would be a red flag. And of course the Tapas 9 phones will be amongst the phones making calls in PDL during that time, or active there.

Any phone numbers that need looking into I hope they can get a court order to do so.

There's an interesting thread on here i'll bump up and post here with info about mobile activity, l searched for it the other day.

You'd only have to follow a mobiles movements between phone masts and calculate how long it takes to travel between those areas, if you've got an anamoly of time then there's an area that needs looking at. The nearer the phone masts are together the smaller area to search.

I wonder how many masts there are in PDL? Just one to cover the whole resort area? that would tell you who was in the area but not movements. Still, it's a start.

Will they be able to use the 14 texts and the deleted phone calls that were previously inadmissable or will this new line of the investigation (because it is looking at the days previous to the 3rd) allow it.

Much as I want them to get every bit of information, especially from T9, that they can, I would not want the Portuguese justice system to break their own rules in order to do so. they fought to have freedoms and the legacy of Madeleine shouldn't be that those are trampled just so this one case can be resolved.

Still if the parents are not suspects and are cooperating perhaps THEY will request the records and get them to the Police. Then the info is there, and no one's rights have been infringed.

Don't forget, anything negatives gets ignored, anything positive for the mccanns gets printed and printed for a week or so.
