Bad luck Badboy!
I have it too. 4 injections a day, god knows how many tablets for blood pressure etc and bloody tests about 2 or 3 times a day!

Yes, me too. It helps to control the blood sugars.
I take insulin but the Dr reckons metformin helps to give me extra control of my sugar levels.

Sugar is said to be very bad for us and we are eating far too much.

Depends what Yoghurt you are eating badboy,may be up to 20grms in some.And also some of the sugar is naturally occurring in the fruit and is supposedly ok.

I am currently trying to go lactose free as well.

You need to take advice on your diet now.

SWEET AND SOUR RICE MEALS HAVE LOTS OF SUGAR.
TESCO LOW FAT YOGHURTS 150 G CONTAINS 22.1 G OF SUGAR.

Hi Badboy,yes its a pity you are finding out you are diabetic,But at least now you will find you will want to make sure you are all clued up on foods and what they contain. It will help your health in. . more ways than one .I have heard people say after following good diet ,the blood suger level has fallen drastically and some found they no longer need medication to control it . Read up on it and don't fret too much ,you will soon learn what to eat less of . best wishes joyce1938

talked with nurse,gave me pamplets etc about diabetes,yalked about diet.
BROUGHT LOTS OF WATER YESTE RDAY WHILE SHOPPING.
MAY HAVE TO GIVE UP DORSET CEREALS
ONLY BUY THINGS WHICH ARE BELOW 5% SUGAR.

I HAVE READ IN THE NEW SCIENTIST A WHOLE ARTICLE ABOUT SUGAR,ITS SEEMS SUGAR IS A POISON,BELIEVED TO CAUSE TYPE 11 DIABETES,FURRED UP ARTERIES CAUSING STROKES AND HEART ATTACKS.
MIGHT BE BESTEST IF EVERYONE KEEP TO PRODUCTS WITH UNDER 5% SUGAR  IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SUFFER FROM ANY OF THE ABOVE.

Sorry to hear your news Badboy, a friend of mine has to inject every day but she is strict about what she eats , One of my Sisters has it but she wasn't cutting down on sweet stuff and now she is losing weight and the Doctor has warned her that she MUST stick to a proper diet. Touch Wood, although i have a very sweet tooth I'm O.K.



Stick to the regime BadBoy, do as the Doctor tells you, it's amazing just how many people suffer from Diabetes.

A FEW MILLION PEOPLE IN UK HAVE DIABETES.
I HEARD FROM SOMEONE WHO I THINK CONTUINED TO DRINK ALCOHOL,HE BECOME VERY ILL AND PASSED BLACK PEE,DECEIDED TO FOLLOW DOCTORS ADVICE AFTERWARDS.

Quaker Oats so simple and Belvita biscuits have low sugar

some of the lowest sugar yogurts Weight Watchers and Sainsburys Irish Diet yogurts (although still around 8-9g but lower than most)

A CAUTION TO EVERYONE,ONLY EAT THINGS WITH 5% OR LESS SUGAR BECAUSE THAT WILL DECREASE YOUR CHANCES OF DIABETES, WHEREAS THINGS OVER THAT LIMIT WILL INCREASE THE CHANCES OF DIABETES.
I HOPE I AM DOING OK,I AM EATING CEREAL WITH 15% SUGAR,NEED TO EAT MORE HEALTHILY.

It depends how much !

You just need a good balanced diet.

Also you need to watch salt and carbohydrates.

Badboy 15% sugar seems to count as high, this link gives some of the lower sugar cereals.
