tanszi wrote:They did both MaryB. Annabel has posted a special thread Exclusive McCann Press Conference. At various points G McCann says he wants a review of all the information by a special panel, and then he was practically forced to ask for the case to be re-opened. He actually said Im asking now, at the Press Conference. He also said he would attend a reconstruction. Problem is we've heard it all before. IMO
Surely Madeleine is entitled to a fair reconstruction!
Re: McCanns will not fly to Lisbon next week (verdict)
The Portugese Police paid rent for 5a for several months and intended to use it for the recon which the McCanns
did not want to attend for obvious reasons.
1. The Tapas 9 timelines would be shown to be inaccurate.
2. The Waiters and Bar Staff statements would be used and the McCanns were probably aware that they
might have differed substantially from their own.
3. The theory that the shutters were tampered with and the Window open would have been shot down.
4. Tanner"s statement would have proved to be a lie.
5. Possibly other holidaymakers at PDL might have made statements which would have conflicted with the
Tapas 9.
Since 5a is no longer available I doubt very much if the P:ortugese Police would go to the trouble and expense
of organising a recon and the McCanns know this. Pity it wasn"t done while the McCanns were still in Portugal
in 07.

You know guys, I had the feeling that that is why Gerry did a runner during the first hearing. In case any new evidence magically appeared, the PJ opened the case there and then, and immediately swooped to lift him. In fact I was quite gobsmacked when he actually dared to go back for part two. Now we are getting the old "work commitments" routine as to why he cannot go back for the conclusion. (Funny how the "work commitments" never stopped him going to Rome and the White House.) He is absolutely terrified of being arrested. Why else would he still be retaining Pinochet's lawyer?

after giving gerrys cowardly stance at not going back and skeletors refusal to do anything to help the child she so called loved ,IT could be that they know they are going to WIN their case through their powerful friends and don,t want to be there for the portugese backlash ,yeah sure normality says gerry would love to gloat but his deep seeded cowardice will make sure he,s not there to take the flack..........................i hope i,m wrong though.

Well, it's going to go one way or the other and Gerry will have planned for both eventualities, so it's wait and see time.

If it goes their way they'll be taking (pre-agreed) questions from their favourite journos. And no doubt a centre page spread in the weekend press. The xenophobic trashy media will go into overdrive to show how the darling duo have been 'fitted up, guv, like a kipper'. Sorry, sardine!

But WHY should the McCanns win ???????
What we have heard has been a disaster for the McCanns.

Because we've had our hopes dashed in the past so often. Just when you think things couldn't get worse. They appear to have powerful friends and benefactors.
I really will think conspiracy if the hearing finds in favour of the Mcs because what we've heard shows how the book follows the police files. The only libellous comment may be that Madeleine had an accident, but doubt the Mcs will want to proceed down that road.
The Mcs can't be spending any time searching now because they must spend hours closeted with their lawyers, avoiding extradition, sue-ing every Tom, Dick and sardine munching Harry. Those are the 'work committments' I think, because I don't know how the Dr can concentrate on his NHS job. Too busy trying to destroy 2 decent hard working policemen who, against all odds and serious UK opposition, searched for Madeleine. Something her own parents never did.

I wouldn't let him treat me anyway and I'd say there are a lot more with the same attitude

Re: McCanns will not fly to Lisbon next week (verdict)
After the very damning court hearing a cover up - perhaps by freemasons or others - would be more than obvious.
But I assume we better should forget Madeleine then...
The judge must explain her decision.
And the decision will be interesting.
Portugal should not sacrifice its police!!!
The PJ.
Not for a neglectful couple from Britain.

Could the Judge delay her decision until after a reconstruction and after Kate answers the 48 questions?

From what I can gather and remember from January, the decision next week will be annouced privately.
Any explaining of the decision will only be to the lawyers from both sides.
I think we will only know the outcome if suddenly the book becomes available.
Not 100% certain, but I think it would then have an impact on the libel case which may have to be dropped if the case goes in Amarals favour, and then they may also have to drop the new case against TVi.

I can't imagine that it'll remain private for very long, though.

Yes, I assume it can not remain privately.
It will not remain privately.
But why then the announciation privately?
Makes not lot of sense.
Well, we´ll see if the book will disappear or not or if it will be available everywhere (Amazon).
Would an official verdict be a real zinger?
And that is why the judge will announce it privately?

I'm sure if they win, they will shout it from the rooftops. Within seconds, we'll know!
