POLICE OFFICER ON CHILD SEX CHARGES

A senior police officer has appeared in court accused of child sex offences and possessing indecent images of children. Inspector Geraint Lloyd Evans, 47, of South Wales Police, was remanded in custody after appearing at Llanelli Magistrates' Court.

Evans was charged with seven separate offences on Thursday and was remanded to appear at Swansea Crown Court on March 11.

The allegations include conspiring with others to incite engagement in unlawful sexual activity with a child under 13.

He is also charged with three offences of making indecent images of children, possession of four child abuse images and possession of extreme pornography.

Evans is also charged with a single offence of possessing section 1 ammunition.

He will appear in court next week with three members of the public also charged with offences related to indecent images of children.

Evans was charged after an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

A separate South Wales Police criminal investigation linked to the case led to the three members of the public being charged.

IPCC commissioner for Wales Tom Davies said: "I am satisfied that this is being thoroughly investigated. It would be inappropriate to comment further now that the judicial process has started."

Why is it that when we hear these stories it is neally always a person who is supposed to protect a child....

some people make sure they are in a job that will assist the very thing they are prone to and should never do such work closely with kids,its clever ploy,so sad it seems it cant be totally eradicated from workplace,yet one would think stringent rules would do it.joyce1938
