Bilbao beggar arrested for trying to sell her baby in the street

A 27 year old woman has been arrested in Bilbao for trying to sell her new-born baby to passersby.
The Basque regional police force, the Ertzaintza, received complaints from a number of people last Friday that the woman was begging on the streets in the city centre and had offered to sell them the child in exchange for a small amount of money. It’s understood that the baby is just one month old.
Officers were unable to locate the woman on Friday, but tracked her down this Tuesday thanks to a photograph which had been provided by a witness. She was found, with her daughter, begging in the Ensanche district of the city.
The baby was placed in the care of social services at City Hall.
