Justin Gero, 31, Pleads Guilty for receiving Over 100 Images of Child Pornography

ALBANY, NY—United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian; Clifford C. Holly, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Albany Division; and Joseph D’Amico, Superintendent of New York State Police, announced that JUSTIN GERO, age 31, of Albany, New York, pled guilty today in United States District Court in Albany before District Judge Thomas J. McAvoy to count one of an information charging him with receiving child pornography.

Pursuant to a written plea agreement, GERO admitted that beginning in about January 2009 and continuing until about April 15, 2011, he received, via the Internet, several still images and one video containing child pornography. GERO further admitted that he received said images onto two laptop computers that were kept in his residence.

Sentencing was scheduled by Judge McAvoy for April 9, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. in U.S. District Court in Albany, New York. GERO faces a maximum penalty of 20 years of imprisonment with a five-year mandatory minimum term of imprisonment. GERO was released pending his sentencing.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New York State Police.
