Will we hear any more about the libel trial

Anyone know what is happening about this trial.  Has it just been dropped or what.  Seems a bit strange that it's just been left like this and nothing reported about if there is a next date or not.

don't know why I thought it was resuming on the 7th February, but of course I could be wrong,.

There's nothing wrong with the trial. The judge will set a date and then we'll hear about it.

How far to the future is the case postponed..from 7.1.?
How long can the screaming duarte and team mccann, with their evil vendetta, sit on Amarals money? Just that he can't pay all the lawyers and living etc for himself and his family. It's all just pure evil. McTeam from hell, no doubt.
Like cutting first his arms and legs off, and then attack him with weapons. Team mccanns team work. I'm disgusted. Evil pack. Devout catholics...my Arse.

Hi weissnicht, the Trial produced few Witnesses seemingly was uncomplicated but you have to wonder for
such an important Trial why it is taking so long to make another appointment. This case has been followed around the World I suspect, even my American friend has emailed me to ask why it is taking so long.

I thought I read the trial was resuming on 7th February which is Friday. Is this still the case or has it been postponed to a later date?

mary i posted on another thread that i didnt think it would go ahead last time - i still think the same - reasons i think is that uk goverment and portugal have stopped it - ok we keep reading in papers and on the net reasons but i dont believe this - imo it depends of how far the case has progressed - its a civil case yes but that is my op

I agree. I think it's been stopped by the powers that be. Waiting for a suitable candidate for abductor to emerge. It could be a long wait.

Once in process I don't think it would be possible to stop it, short of the McCanns withdrawing their claim.

I mean postponed and delayed indefinitely rather than actually halted completely. Otherwise why isn't it going ahead or at least a date fixed for the next hearing.

It's not so much the time it's taking but it's not knowing when the next date will be. If it's Friday or in a month or in six months or longer. In the UK a lot is not reported. And even if it is reported it isn't always quite accurate. The media doesn't really mention that the ban on the book was lifted for instance. I probably wouldn't even know the trial was still going on if it wasn't for reading about it on the forum. All I would know is that three burglars are about to be arrested as suspects. So a friend of mine told me last week.

Perhaps the three 'burglars' have all been 'abducted' by gypsies, swarthy men, soothing couple, etc.,

thank you Claudia 79 for reminding us that this is normal. Im sure the time taken in the UK with some cases is similar.

In the UK there is usually an indication as to when a trial will take place or will be resumed. But I know every country is different. What worries me is this. If the whole thing was decided done and dusted case closed would we even hear about it. Would it be reported.

i am quite sure we would know.

Yes it's been very very quiet. Not even a mention of the trial along the usual lines such as disgraced Maddie cop being sued by McCanns. Not even referred to ongoing trial. I think there is something going on behind the scenes. It's just disappeared without trace.

The next gargantuan flood of 'New Revelations' and 'empty stare' TV bulletins from Redwood might possibly herald the release of a brief report about the much postponed, 'very hurtful and unhelpful' dispute with Amaral.
