The BBC again

David Cameron does not want to give us a referendum on our continued membership of the European Union. Messrs Milliband and Clegg are firmly opposed to any such referendum. Cameron phrased his promise in very vague terms, which Angela Merkel poured cold water on, so Cameron may very well seize on that aspect to deny any referendum. No successful negotiations no referendum. Yet depending on what happens next Thursday, he may (if he is still prime minister) be forced into it. If that happens then we; the people of this country need a full, frank, and above all honest discussion so that we can make an informed decision. We were not allowed that luxury last time.

We seldom watch "the big Question " on BBC on Sunday mornings, but this morning my government and I decided we would for a change. The BBC has been accused several times recently about their heavy bias approach, and their larding any audience with the views they (The BBC) want. The first question today was capital punishment.

Now it doesn't really matter whether I am in favour or not. the point is the audience was so heavily populated with anti's that it would have been impossible for anyone to make a reasonable choice. Only a bare handful ever spoke, and the one that IMHO made most sense was an Imam,, who was howled down every time he made a point. Several others wanted to speak, but were not allowed to. The second question went much the same way. the same handful made their feelings well known, and the Imam Afjal I believe his name was had by then given up.

The connection then is that the BBC is still up to it's old tricks. My fear then is that if we do get a referendum on continued membership of the European Union, will we be in any danger at all of getting a free, fair, frank, and above all honest discussion on the pro's and con's. Or will we get the BBC's version, in a series of heavily loaded programmes.

Hello katertaif, from the BBC we will never get any of the points mentioned. They are so far to the left they will come full circle if they are not careful. I actually believe in the full circle of politics rather than the half circle.

I for one never watch the main news on the BBC, I prefer to tune in to something a little less bias. I do occasionally watch debates on there but I know which way they will go. I used to watch ' Question Time' with the wonderfully neutral David Dimbleby and the wonderfully neutral audience they always had! I stopped that because I feared for the screen of my TV as I seemed to often pick up the nearest object. Anyway it was not good for a decent nights sleep.
