Just how deep a depth can this pair plummet?
Just how many precedents of how to avoid parental responsibilities can be attributed to them and their spokesperson?
Just how much longer can this farce run on?

They do seem to be faeces proof after all the years of laughable lies, media campaigns and witness manipulation. But for the twins sake this state of affairs cannot go on forever, the stigma surrounding the parents will inevitably stick to them. imho.

You're probably right, fred... But I doubt if the McCanns are or will ever be wealthy enough to shield the twins from the reams of suppressed or unpublished data that is out there. They will find life away from the nest a dreadful shock to the system when they have to break away from their mummy's apron strings and make their own way in the world.

Maddie McCann's parents lodge legal bid against cop who claimed 'cover-up'

MADELEINE McCann's parents have lodged a new legal bid to silence the former detective who claims they covered up her death.

By Jerry Lawton / Published 30th May 2016

BATTLE: Gerry and Kate McCann have lodged a legal bid against cop Goncalo Amaral
Goncalo Amaral overturned a court ruling ordering him to pay doctors Kate and Gerry McCann 500,000 Euro (£380,000) in libel damages over the claims in his best-selling book The Truth Of The Lie.

The victory meant the former policeman – who led the hunt for the youngster for five months after she vanished in Portugal in 2007 – did not have to pay the McCanns any compensation and could re-publish his book.

The couple, from Rothley, Leics, were ordered to pay his court costs.

“The longer it goes on the more anguish it causes them”
A friend of the couple
But they have now submitted an appeal to Portugal's Supreme Court to overturn Mr Amaral's win.

If they lose, the legal bill could wipe out the Find Madeleine Fund set up using public donations to help the search for their daughter.

A friend of the couple said: "They are exasperated by this. The longer it goes on the more anguish it causes them.

"We hope the appeal will be successful.

"If they lose there will be a big legal bill to pay which will come from the fund set up to find Madeleine.

"When Operation Grange ends Kate and Gerry will have to finance their own private investigation again."

"...Kate and Gerry will have to finance their own private investigation again." Again I refer to www.laidbareblog.blogspot.com which refers to the wasted dodgy private detectives paid for by donations to the Find Madeleine Fund. It's time the public who so willingly contributed realize their hard earned cash has been wasted on PR people and legal expenses to fight Mr. Amaral because in Kate's opinion, "he needs to be miserable and feel fear" but she forgives Madeleine's "abductor".

I see where The Sun has an an article online where Kate is calling on readers to get behind that charity single which helps missing children reunite with their families. The single is by the Missing People Choir. As this case continues I can almost envision Kate, Gerry and the Twins releasing their own single pleading with the public to contribute in order to support their "own" private investigation.

Didn't Clarence Mitchell, back in the day, say that none of the Fund would be used for legal expenses (not that I believed him).

I believe he did interested...

But didn't the fund also pay for their then new car, their mortgage which was at that time in arrears (according to either Auntie Phil or Ma Healey) and we mustn't forget trips abroad for family members.

I wonder they are able to sleep at night thinking of the money shortages they've caused in the homes of pensioners and school children?

Controversy as McCanns “use Find Madeleine Fund” to pursue former PJ cop through courts

News from a UK tabloid that the parents of Madeleine McCann are banking on money donated to the Find Madeleine Fund to pursue former PJ policeman Gonçalo Amaral through the courts has caused a major stir on social media - not least because the couple vowed in 2007 that this could never happen. A report in Sky News said nine years ago that trustees had announced that “Money from the Find Madeleine campaign will not be used to fund Kate and Gerry McCann’s legal costs".. Sky went on to affirm that the McCanns “had already said they would not use the cash - more than £1 m - to pay any legal bills, even if the trust had let them”. But according to Jerry Lawton of the Daily Star, this has all now changed. Forging ahead with an expensive appeal against the decision by three Appellate judges in April to exonerate Amaral (click here), the McCanns are effectively going for broke, explains Lawton. They have been ordered to pay both their own and Amaral’s court costs, he said, but this will clearly be suspended while their new “legal bid to silence the former detective” is considered by Portugal’s Supreme Court. “If they lose, the legal bill could wipe out the Find Madeleine Fund set up using public donations to help the search for their daughter”, Lawton warns. A friend of the couple confirmed the situation, saying the parents from Rothley have been left “exasperated”. “If they lose there will be a big legal bill to pay”, said the friend - confirming the money would have to “come from the fund set up to find Madeleine”. Commentators who feel the coordinator of the original police investigation was well within his rights to freedom of expression to pen his damning book “Maddie: A Verdade da Mentira (The Truth of the Lie)” are beside themselves. Retweeting the link to Lawton’s story, the consensus on social media is that the couple is prepared to use money that was not donated to fund court battles. “This is misuse of funds”, a source writing into the Resident has complained. Even though Amaral’s defence has been funded by donations (click here), the source said this was very different to the situation of the McCanns.

“The difference is that Amaral’s money was donated specifically for his legal costs and for no other purpose”, said the source. “The Madeleine Fund is specifically for the search for Madeleine, and the directors said at one point that it could not be used for legal expenses”. Former trustee and one-time GMTV presenter Esther McVey - who only a few months later resigned from the Fund and went on to become a Conservative MP - said the decision was taken despite the fact that “it would be legally permissible to use the money for a legal defence”. There was a “spirit which underlies the generous donations to Madeleine’s fund”, she explained in 2007, and it was this spirit that trustees had the “responsibility to steer”. The row is exacerbating an already difficult time for the McCanns: an ‘old chestnut’ from the past, South African Stephen Birch has resurfaced on social media to launch a crowd-funding appeal to buy the Praia da Luz home where, he claims, Madeleine’s remains lie buried under the driveway.

I knew there was a report nine years ago that money from the fund would not be used for legal fees. I remember thinking at the time, if the McCanns had nothing to do with Madeleine's "disappearance", why the necessity to mention legal fees at all. It just proves what a sham the whole thing is - they were anticipating legal fees from the start in order to defend themselves against any and all charges brought against them; even the original plea was for money for the "Fighting Fund". If my child was missing I would be so busy searching for her myself it would never occur to me that I would need a lawyer but the McCanns appear to have realized that very early on, which speaks for itself.

Heavy duty moderating going on at the Daily Mail site - only 19 comments allowed. Thousands of green arrows for 15 of them and thousands of red arrows for the remaining 4 which support the McCanns. Considering the interest the article has generated, I'm sure the DM was inundated with comments but cut them off at 19.

Sorry but I'm tired of these two. Far too much money has been spent on their mistake. If she worked in a shop and he was a driver they would have faced prosecution. Never leave your kids !

I was just about to take issue with this headline but I see the Independent has revised it. When I clicked on the link, the headline now reads: "Madeleine McCann: Kate and Gerry McCann appeal against former detective who claims they covered up Madeleine's death"

The revision from "they killed Madeleine" to "they covered up Madeleine's death" was apparently made about 10 minutes ago.

The seven comments are interesting.

What the McCanns don't like:

The conclusions my team and I have arrived at are the following:

1. The minor, Madeleine McCann died inside apartment 5A of the Ocean Club in Vila da Luz, on the night of May 3rd 2007;

2. There was simulation of abduction.

3. Kate Healy and Gerald McCann were probably involved in the concealment of their daughter's body.

4. The death may have occurred as a result of a tragic accident;

5. The evidence proves the parents' negligence concerning the care and safety of the children.

So why don't they use their own money? Let's hope the fund runs dry.

Goncalo Amaral's book has been available for years. Free on the internet.

You have to be stupid not to agree with his conclusions.

They will lose

I find the whole episode strange, however one thing makes me believe that the macanns are not as innocent as they profess, which mother would refuse to answer police questions when they were searching for the missing? Child,it does not add up and when they returned to the UK why were they allowed to keep the two younger children.not even taken to court for neglect of them.

I don't think they face paying him a large amount of money, he hasn't sued them, they sued him. they simply have to pay the legal fees if they lose. Pretty much standard isn't it?

Surely using money donated to find Madeleine for legal expenses isn't moral (or legal). There's a long long list of people they've sued too. Did they use Madeleines fund for that too?

Maybe they both suffer from resting b*tch face, but they always struck me as the creepiest couple on the planet and this 'cleared of wrongdoing' always gets up my nose. I'd still like to know why they weren't up in front of the beak for child neglect.

And just WHY are they using donated funds for their own legal battles? People donated to 'FIND MADELEINE', NOT to fund the McCanns battles that they instigated themselves against Goncalo Amaral! He won 'unanimously' in court and they are appealing and using money that isn't theirs to use in this manner! They are meant to be SEARCHING, not SUING!

However, if you knew that searching were futile......

Clearly, if the detective's appeal stands, the assumption of a 'reasonable conclusion' stands along with it. That might be a threat to future revenue streams.
