I can't see that this has been posted here but the daily mail reported that the mother who left 4 children alone escaped prison. Over 200 comments and a bit of McCann bashing. The 4 kids are still alive.

Have just been watching the pictures on News at Ten, and they are disgusting. The house was filthy, and the kids left to fend for themselves for 24 hours. The baby was soaked in urine, and was left in its cot. The poor kids were so starving they had pushed chairs up against the cupboards to try and reach them to get at food. God, how can a mother do this to her kids. Even worse how can the courts hand out such a pathetic sentence. I am lost for words

She wasn't quite scot free then, a 20 week jail sentence suspended for 2 years is a real deterrent in comparison to raking in millions and travelling the world being treated as a celeb and keeping possession of your two remaining children.

So so sad for those poor little kids. An extremely fertile woman who lost the opportunity to become a real Mum. Others would give their heart and soul to become a Mum of one.

i plead guilty to the bit of mccann bashing, it was nice to notice that at least one person who posted their comments there has seen my previous posts in similar cases. I am rather impressed since the majority of my posts never made it through but i find now that if i don't say the Mccann word or say Madeleine and refer to them only as a couple i have had some success in sneaking posts through Children left alone, while mum goes drinking 873702

i find it totally hypocritical that there is one rule for one and one rule for another and the press play their part. Yes it is appalling, someone tell me the difference between this and a couple whose child disappeared whilst mum and dad went out on a jolly. Neglect is neglect however its dressed up.

I was watching GMTV this morning....John Stapleton sat there saying things like "you cannot leave a child of 4 or less to fend for itself" and several other comments which made me so cross I've forgotten them.

Edit..the grandparents are looking after the 4 children and the mother has supervised visiting. Why didn't this happen in the McCann case?

A more significant observation is why where the rest of the tapas group let off scott free after also admitting they left their children.
The prosecutor said the McCanns had suffered enough, which was the reason for no neglect charges.
What about the Tapas group who never lost a child ???
The whole thing stinks.
